I just got my M1210 (filled with bloatware) and I'm kinda nervous that I'll run into driver issues if I do a clean install of the OS. Is it pretty much the same as installing windows XP?

Basically the same. Before you install go ahead and download the newest vista drivers from dell and have them ready.

Depending on the specifications of your notebook the majority of drivers should already be Pre-Installed with Vista. But it doesn't hurt to download all the Vista Drivers and put them on CD or flash drive so you can easily put them on your machine.
