I have read some compaints about the 1330 with respect to the noise. I have been considering a Sony SZ, but still think that I would be better off w/a 1330.

I guess my question is if the 1330 is any louder than most other laptops.

Also, does it run hotter? Is it noticeable? Can you feel the hear through the case?

Noisy- No. With the SSD-Super quiet. The fan rarely comes on, nd unless at full tilt, is barly audible. The sound is of the air being pushed out, no whine from the fan.

Hot- Certainly.. Esp If you have the 8400M GS. The palmrests get rather warm, and the underside is quite toasty, under load.

Ive had mine for about 2 weeks now, and I guess Im just used to my M1730 which runs pretty hot, but this system doesnt run hot at all - then again I only use it for basi tasks, so not really stressing the system etc.

In regards to noise - the loudest part is the HDD! The fans dont really kick in very often, but bear in mind I have the 9 cell battery, so the rear is raised quite nicely, which increass airflow around the system. Also I dont run games etc on it. When te fans do kick in, its only for a very short while.

Overall, Im very happy. Im sure you will be also.

I've had my 1330 for a week now, and it is one of the quietest notebooks I've ever used. I can only hear the hard drive if I am in a very quiet room. It can get a bit hot however. Since I have the 9-cell battery, the cooling is a bit better because it props the computer up so the airflow is improved.

When you ask about whether it's hot or not, are you talking about internal temperatures or are you asking whether it's hot to have it in your lap?

Hot to the touch. I amnot sure that I would be able to tell if the inside was hot since I don't plan to open it, I am not that experienced.

You wouldn't have to open it up. Just use HWMonitor or similar software to monitor internal temperatures.

I thought the M1330 was a little warm to use in my lap for long periods. It wasn't burning hot or anything, but it wasn't exactly cool either. I used it in my lap sometimes when I first booted it up, before it had heated up. But after a while I'd want to put it on the table or something. It might be OK in the winter if your house is cold.

Are there any negative effects of a computer running hot? Can it cause internal failure? I assume that it is designed to run hot, but you what what 'they' say about assumptions!

I don't recall which graphics card came standard w/the 1330, but I don't intend to upgrade the card. I will research which card it come with.

Nevermind, that is the standard card. Any way around that problem?
