Hey guys, i went to my friends house yesterday and the native resolution on his 1405 was 1440x900. He was telling me how it was too big for the laptop and that i should go w/ a smaller resolution. To a certain extent i agreed. However, i want to know your opinion. I dont know if it was just different to go from 1024x768, down to something that big on a smaller screen. Let me know what i should go with. Thanks

    1280x800 is one notch down.

    its just personal preference.

check out one before you get it.

smaller resolution means less space to work with, but also larger pictures / text

Personally I prefer 1440x900 on a 14 inch notebook, I think it's the best resolution for that screen size. However, I find that some pictures, desktop backgrounds and website look distorted at that resolution, like if everything was streched. You should go to a retail store and check the resolution for yourself and get the one your most comfortable with. You can always play with font size and icon size also if you find that everything is too small.

You can turn the resolution down on the 1440x900, but you can't turn it up higher on a 1280x800.

I did do that on my friends laptop, but since 1280x800 wasnt the native resolution, it looked nasty.

    1440x900 is ideal on a 14"

12x8 is best on 13 and under

    1680x1050 on 15s
