I've ordered the Inspiron 9200. It will replace my 6yr old desktop... (the oldest parts are 6yrs old....celeron 600 with 10gb hdd etc...).
I will be using the 9200 for dekstop replacement at home plus as a dvd player and other things on my 1hr trips to and from work on the train....I am thinking...is it too big to be used as a portable laptop?

I'm also debating this issue. I hadn't seen the i9200 in person until just yesterday, but I've been interested and researching it for a good month now. It is quite lite for its size, and fairly thin, but its still massive.

After getting a feel for it up close, I'm still very interested, but I have also now been looking into the 15.4" screens... - I'm hoping that I'll have some sort of revelation, and the best choice will make itself known to me very soon... lol (unlike my name, i'm quite the opposite...)
