    Hi there

Due to receive my Vostro 1500 any day now. I have gone for the above processor.

I read somewhere that all Vostro processors are Santa Rosa but I read on here in a post that Santa Rosa processors are identified by the a 7 at the beginning ie - T7100 or T7300.

I have heard great things about Santa Rosa so I am hoping that mine will be one.

Also, if I get a grainy screen (I am getting the True Life WXGA 1280x800)
I presume it is really noticeable from the outset or is it only visible under certain conditions?

I am in the UK if that makes any difference.

    Many thanks

Santa Rosa is a platform, and it uses the same processor from the older Centrino Duo platform. The T7X00 processors included with Santa Rosa are only different to the older processors in that tey have an 800 MHz FSB. Other than that, the actual processor is very similar.

Yeah Santa Rosa platform processors have some key features like automatic optimization for single-threaded applications by overclocking one of the cores and turning off the other and remaining within the specified thermal limits and many other small features too....

The T5470 is a 800 MHz FSB processor and a Santa Rosa too but differs from the T7xxx series in that it lacks the Virtualization technology...

Other than the lack of VT, its just a downclock of the T7100 (same thing, just with a lower speed). So yes, its Santa Rosa.
