Could anyone who has recently bought a Dell Vostro 1500 let me know if they're still getting the headphone crackling issue? According to Dell they "think" it's fixed and new ones aren't being shipped with that problem... but Dell talk a lot of rubbish so I'm reluctant to take their word for it.
I'm in need of a new laptop and the Vostro 1500 is perfect apart from the annoying headphone crackling, but if they have fixed it I'll definitely get one.
If you could let me know that'd be great (also, if it did come with a crackle noise, did you complain and did dell fix it... or were you able to fix it yourself?)
Thanks in advance.

I'm getting no crackling on my inspiron 1520 which is the same as the vostro, so i assume they did fix it. I recieved mine Jan 23rd.

my 1530 I hear cracking but it doesn't boher me since I don't use headphones much.

Even if the headphone jack still has crackling noise, there is a HOW-TO fix posted on these forums that work wonderfully

Thanks for the replies sounds good so far. Can anyone else confirm it's fixed for them?
Thanks again. -
I got my Inspiron 1520 (which again is identical to the vostro except for colour) before christmas, and I have no issues with the headphone jack. Maybe I'm lucky though

Thanks! I think I'll go ahead and order it then - one other question, somebody said to me that if you do have an issue like grainy screen/CPU whine/headphone crackle/etc... you can't return the Vostro because it comes under the 'business' instead of 'home' anyone know if that's true?
Is the Vostro 1500 headphone 'crackle' noise fixed?
