Is the WUXGA worth the extra $125 on the 9300?

Seems like everyone on these boards splurged and got the high end display. Anyone have just the regular screen? If so, is it still really nice? I am just talking about general clarity and how everything looks on the screen don't take it into account if you got on of the shoddy sparkly ones.

It kinda depends on whether you've already had a laptop before I guess. I have the regular screen and this 9300 is my first laptop, so to me, it's amazing!!

I would imagine that if I saw or owned a better display mine would seem lower quality.

However, as it is now, I think the regular screen is fine. I mean compared to the crappy CRT I'vebeen using, the regular screen is excellent.

    I don't regret my choice.

Its all a matter of choice yea the truelife screens look good, but I have no complaints about not getting it on my 9300. I had the glossy screen on a HP i returned and I dont miss it.

I would suggest going to Best Buy or somewhere and looking at some notebooks to see the difference for your self and then deciding.

    hope this helped...

I have the regular screen, and I really don't have any complaints about it. There is certain angles that are better than others. On some angles, the sides are darker than others. Its nothing to complain about though. If you have had a laptop before and are used to widescreens, then you shouldn't have a problem with the regular. Even if you aren't used to widescreens, it only takes a couple of days to get used to it.

If you order it with the regular screen and don't like it, you do have 21 days from date of invoice to return it for full refund.

I don't read people talking about it here but I use mide to do software development and the extra realestate is useful in the development tools. I was worried that I might have problems reading the screen but I think the brightness and contrast fixes that.
i would never be able to read a 19" tube at this resolution. Itdoes help with things like development toos or word which have tool bars on the right or left. The development tool has both and the screen still has enough resolution to display the program in the middle without scrolling it, very nice.

I sit for hours every day glaring at my laptop screen. I started looking at BestBuy and Frys and was amazed at the number of low resolution screens out there. I tried working with WXGA (1200X800) on a 15.4" but I got eye strain simply because I'm having to move my eyes over a larger surface to read the same amount of material.

Then I saw the Sony 17" WSXGA+ (1900X1200) and fell in love. The type was crisp and clean and the icons were small but sharp as a tack. I don't care that the icons are small. I go more by where I have the icon located than what it actually looks like. My opinion is that a WUXGA capable screen set at WXGA is a waste of real estate.

My question is how the 9300 WUXGA would compare to the Sony WSXGA+ with both displays at 1900X1200? Anyone have comparison experience? Also, since I have not actually seen the 9300, is the screen glossy glass (like the Sony) or does it have a non-reflective surface?

Also, with the discount coupons, is it better to order directly from Dell or grab one off Ebay? Ebay sellers state that the warranty doesn't start until payment is received so does that also mean that I could return the notebook to Dell if it wasn't what I wanted? I haven't seen any Ebay re-sellers offering the printer that comes with an online order to Dell.

I haven't seen the two side by side but yes the 9300 with the truelife screen is the glossy, glass, mirror type.
