    Hi everybody,
    I get a new Dell vostro 1500 and I want to know is there a way to install win XP on it without losing media direct???(I ordered my lappy with win vista :( )

    MediaDirect is in a different partition, so reinstalling Windows (to the windows partition) won't touch the mediadirect installation

    just don't format the whole disk and it should be fine.

    If you do it that way, just remember never to start the computer using the Media Direct button. Installing Windows without first "preparing" the hard drive by using the Media Direct disc you risk turning the Media Direct button into a self destruct button -- at least if you try to boot to Media Direct as opposed to starting it from within Windows. Sometimes pressing the Media Direct button again "fixes" the problem, but all too often this "fix" stops working.

    I've found a way to install win xp andwin vista together on a DELL laptop with MediaDirect. But the HDD can just be partitioned to 5partitions. Is there anyway to increase the number of partitions?
