    Hi all,

Yes I know it would really be easier to re-format my brand new Inspiron 9400 (E1705).

Thing is, I want to keep the Restore Partition (so I can sell it easier in 3 or 4 years time), and even more important, I paid €133 EUROs for an OEM version of Office 2003 Basic Edition. They supply discs for Windows XP, but not for that... so if I reformat, I lose Office 2003 Basic Edition :(

So is there a list anywhere of the Dell BloatWare I can safely remove - I want to keep the Dell Media Center/Dell Media Experience ...

thanks for any tips, or help

    Philip

Bloatware is in the eye of the beholder. Just go to add/remove programs and get rid of everything you're not intending on using. Then you might consider a registry cleaning application to get any loose bits.

You'll probably have to call dell to get the Office disk. I don't think they send that anymore, but they should send it for free. You might also check your account online. I saw a link for "downloading software you bought", but I didn't check into it very much.

You don't have to remove your restore partition in order to reformat your main partition.

No you don't have to remove it, but if you reinstall windows or edit the partitions in any way, your restore partition will no work, so you might as well delete it and gain the space back.
