After much usage, my Inspiron 9300 lcd screen is a little loose, like it wobbles a little when moved around. I was wondering is there a screw or anything I can use to tighten it up a little to prevent it from moving. I just hope my future e1705 wont have this issue over time.

1. remove the bumpers on the LCD.
2. un screw the screws.
3. pop the plastic off (the piece with the bumpers)
4. look for screws that attach the screen and the rest of the computer
5. put it back together -
yes, you can tighten the screws. On mine, the screws under the rubber feet are generally the ones that get loose, so you might start there. Also if you remove the keyboard cover, you'll expose the hinge screws which can be tighten. If neither of those work, you can remove the bezel and tight the screws around it. I would do that as a last resort because it is somewhat of a pain to remove the bezel. For diagrams:

I'm sorry if this sounds kinda stupid, but I'm trying to stop the screen from wobbling back and forth on my brother's laptop. Could someone post a pic of where that particular screw is at to tighten the monitor? I would really appreciate it, i can't really determine where is it just by words, i"m kinda a visual learner.

How would tightening the screws help? Isn't it just the hinges and you cant adjust them?
-
That was my initial reaction too because the screw that attach to the monitor isn't really a screw, its more like a round screw which none of my tools can fit.

Maybe I just misunderstood the problem. I know it is hard to describe, but can you give us a bit more detail. Is the LCD staying up and not moving when you have the lid open? or does it start to slide forward/backwards?
-
yea sorry i should have gone into a bit more detail, once you open the lid- it feels very "loose." Although it will stay at whatever position you desire, the screen can be moved around with a single finger. It gets kinda annoying when you are walking with the thing and the screen just moves back and forth- really hard to see. But when its stationed, i guess its ok. I just want to get it fixed for travel usage.

okay, I know what you are talking about.
The moving back and forth is just the hinge. I don't think there is really anyway to fix that or at least I haven't figured it out.
Mine does the same. I do agree - it can be annoying sometimes. Sorry, i thought you meant the LCD was not staying up properly. -
Mine does the same thing. Very annoying just laying on the bed with it, everytime i move the screen wobbles.
Ill be taking my laptop apart in an attempt to fix this, ill let you know if i figure it out
Is there a way to tighten the lcd screen?
