Gaming wise you need a better processor.

Programs such as Word can be procured without purchasing if money is a problem. Microsoft has plenty of it already.

BS, we dont advocate piracy here. You need to purchase it. You can get the office student edition for around 150. If money is a problem, drop the graphics card to be able to afford it.

istead of getting word, get the open office suite of software, better and compatible with word, and best of all free. go on google com and type open office in and download it.

I really would consider getting the vostro 1500 instead of the 17" model, it'd probably be cheaper, and much more portable.

Don't forget all Vostro's ship with MS Work 9 for FREE ! It's a stripped down version of MSO but if al you are doing is creating basic documents it might do the job. As Nizzy said don't pirate it ain't cool.

Someone started a thread over in the Windows OS forum where college students were able to buy MSO for something like $79. If your college doesn't offer it you an go directly to MS and you should be able to get it there.

I own two Vostro's a 1500 and 1700 and they are rugged laptops.

I never said "We" do, I never said you do. I do. I think making a money strapped student already purchasing the OS to spend that much money is wrong, but hey. Im not telling anyone how to do, everyones left to their own devices. I pay for 90% of my software.

No, I mean piracy. I didnt instruct on how to do it. We all know its illegal, and we know people do it everyday. My first instructor at my college used to do tech support for the other teachers before he became a teacher and said they all had illegal pirated teaching software, lol.

But yeah, purchase everything or lions eat you? lol
