I'll skip the normal method of posting questions. The price for this works I just want to know if this customized dell e1505 is good. I will mainly use it for mp3s, some video watching and editing, and surfing the web.
this costs 1578 with warranty. is the e1505 atleast semi-portable? as long as this is a well-performing, durable laptop than I will be happy. If you see any of the upgrades I made that aren't neccessary, please let me know.

for just listening to music and watching videos with surfing the internet, you dont need such a expensive machine. Thats for sure.
You can go with the GMA 950.
You can go with the T2300E
You can go without the sound upgrade- its useless software
You can go with a lower resolution screen (its really hard on your eyes to have such high resolultion) -
I think that if your going to spend about 1600-1800 then you should go for a Latitude I think. The D820 is a nice looking system, its a better build quality, and its got the ability to dock into a real bay instead of one of those useless USB ones. But thats just my opinion.
-
what is the T2300E
? -
It is practically the same as a Core 2 Duo without the 64 bit compatibility. It is only 1.66 Ghz processor Core Duo with a 667 Mhz FSB, 2 x 1 MB Cache and does not have intel's virtualization technology
-
-
i just bought it minus the sound upgrade + the graphics upgrade.
-
there is practically no difference between the two. My sister has a Core 2 Duo 1.66 and I have a Core Duo 1.66 difference not much maybe 1 second on super pi. But since she wants to upgrade in the future it was a good investment for her hence the 64 bit compatibility. For me I plan to replace mine in the next year or so and not planning on upgrading that much so I am good with mine.
-
o. the core 2 duo one i got is 2 ghz. i figured i may as well get it. it was like an extra 200 but im planning on using this for like 4 years so that's 50 extra a year. no biggy.

IMO you better off going to DELL outlet store, and pick up a system for $600-$800. They come with 1 year warrenty that you can extend up to 3 or 4 years.
