    Hello

    I have configured a VOSTRO 1500 and have a query ?

    I have a budget of £400 - £450.
I managed to get a free upgrade on the Battery (9 Cell from 6) and
    I upgraded the Graphics card.
But i left the CPU as a 1.4GHz.

Would this be ok ? or by sticking with the Slower CPU am i wasting my time with the better Graphics ?

This all comes out at £457 , including vat and Del..

We can't tell you if we don't know what you're doing with the laptop.

8400GS will be more than enough I would think.

If that is the case, a 256MB dedicated graphics card is probably overkill, unless the gaming she intends to be doing would benefit from it; if that is the case, a faster processor would also be recommended.

    256mb 8600M GT to 128mb 8400GS
    and then upgrade CPU ?

Depends on what games, but yes the 8400GS should be more then enough, giving u some left over money to get a better cpu.

If you can afford it, defenitly upgrade the cpu and leave the graphics at 256.
if you can't afford it, and your daughter will only game occasionally, upgrade the cpu and downgrade the graphics. 1.4ghz for dual core is not good for gaming.

    Thanks for all the responses.

I will take your advice and upgrade the CPU and then go with the 128mb 8400GS.

    Thanks

Yes, that's what I would do.
