I ordered a Midnight Blue Dell XPS M1330 with Slim and Light LED Display with VGA Webcam
The Order Acknowledgment says:
320-6312 Midnight Blue
320-5583 Slim and Light LED Display with VGA Webcam
320-5775 Standard LCD with Crimson Red Microsatin Casing and Camera XPS M1330
The Order Confirmation says:
320-6312 1 Dummy LCD with Camera XPS M1330
313-6073 1 Slim and Light LCD with Blue High Gloss Casing and
Camera XPS M1330
What am I getting? CCFL backlit LCD or LED backlit LCD?
Dell said, I am getting the new upgraded display (doesn't say whether it is CCFL or LED backlit). My contact at Dell says that the Midnight Blue color was recently introduced and the description has been entered wrong. Does anybody know what's going on?
Update: I received my notebook today and it is Midnight Blue with LED backlit LCD display.
-
measure the thickness of it and post
-
its the led lcd. the led is supposed to make the laptop thinner and lighter. my m1330 order shows the same.
-
Slim and Light traditionaly means LED.
-
Sounds like LED backlit to me. This thread has a picture of the two side by side for comparison.

Thanks for all your responses.

The best way would be to measure, but for confirmation can anyone post the actual thickness of the LED and LCD screens?
Failing that, take it to Best Buy and compare to their model which definitely is LCD fat boy version. -
sinstoic please post some photos when you receive it. I'd really like to see a blue one
It looks like you're getting the LED screen for me too. -

Which one has better quality: LED or CCFL ?
-
Graininess has been reported for both types of backlighting. -
I don't see why the LED backlight should give faster response times. The display still uses LCD technology for the coloured "shutters" which the backlight shines through.
I also doubt it should have blacker blacks as the opacity presumably also comes from the LCD part. However, if brightness is higher then it can have higher contrast (not convinced brightness is higher than a CCFL on my Toshiba LED screen in the M1330).
The other thing it may have over CCFL is whiter white and better colour reproduction.
The definite benefits are less power consumption, thinner, lighter.
Probable benefit longer lifetime with less brightness fading with time.
Possible benefit is less susceptible to breaking. -
Sure does look nice in the blue.
-
not to worry, you for sure have the screen you want, huzzah!
-
how can i check it ?

I wonder what this "320-5775 Standard LCD with Crimson Red Microsatin Casing and Camera XPS M1330" is for in my order acknowledgement especially when I had ordered the Midnight Blue. As it disappeared in the Order Confirmation, I am sure I am getting the Midnight Blue.
I contacted a friend of mine at Dell and got it confirmed as LED backlit display. Now all I have to do is wait for the notebook to confirm and post pictures for you. -
Can't wait for your photos as the LED display for the 1530 is not coming and I can get an extra -10% on the 1330 now...

Here is a picture of my Dell XPS M1330 Midnight Blue:
Yes, the display is LED backlit LCD. The hardware id is LCD2306 (Toshiba). The display is perfect without any dead pixels, graininess or light bleeding.
Midnight Blue does not attract fingerprints and its texture is a pleasure to touch. Its color changes depending on the surrounding light.

How Do I check If I got LED OR LCD?
-
You got an LCD. The question is whether it's CCFL backlit or LED backlit. -
compare the hinge on yours to the one in the picture, the size difference is more noticeable there
-
In my order list it says:
1 320-5583 13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera, XPS M1330
AND
1 313-6146 Slim and Light LCD with Blue High Gloss Casing and Camera XPS M1330
How do I know what Dell says is right or How do I know I got what I Paid for?
PS: In my device manager under monitor it says Generic pnP, Manufacturer standard monitor type ???????
Is this M1330 LED or CCFL backlit?
