Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I got one with a t5600, 2gig 667 ram, web cam,60 gig hd, gf 7400,audigy, proset wireless, dvdr, vista upgrade, extra charger and 3 year pc cillin for under a grand us shipped
the above isnt bad, though I'm sure you can find better, how long it'll take is anybodys guess, I searched for weeks till I landed that one, I was on a tight budget, and wasnt willing to sacrifice the video card, this was about 3 months ago, also , if you want vista, you might want to get one that has the upgrade mentioned, cause if the machine was sold prior to the vista preogram, oct 26, its not eligible, the dell rep told me it would be, after many phone calls, they finally gave me an excahange for a like system that was sold after the program started -
! Did you apply a coupon or something? I cant find any XPS coupons. I’m in Japan BTW. I may try to get one shipped from US if they are that cheap.

no coupon or special deal, just looked and looked and looked, hours of 3am searching hitting the refresh button every 3 minutes, actually it ended up being under 900 shipped in the end, as they temprarily lost my exchange, and said theyd have to redo it, and I ended up getting 100 bucks credited back to my account for the trouble, but the original total cost was 990 something

Have some pity on your poor relations across the Atlantic ... I had to pay approx $1,949.34 for one without the Geforce graphics card
Extra £230 here ($448) for the Geforce and in all honesty the XPS M1210 I've ordered isn't for gaming on anyway - desktop machine can take care of that. That said I don't pay that sort of money for a graphics card in my desktop machine.
All prices UK including VAT of which as my M1210 is for business use I can claim back which takes some of the sting out of it! -
I think I got riped off - I paid about $2000 for this:
Windows XP MCE 2005 To Windows Vista Home Premium upgrade
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200
1GB RAM (512 x 2)
100GB 7200 RPM SATA HDD
12.1 TFT TrueLife WXGA display with camera
DVD+-RW
GeForce Go 7400 Turbo cache 64MB/192MB (256MB)
Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio
9 Cell battery
Dell 1500 Draft N Wireless Card
Dell 5500 UMTS/HSDPA WWLAN Card
Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth
Extra AC Adaptor
1Year Warranty
And that price was using my company's discount!! -

you didnt get ripped off, you orderd new and have most options maxed out, mine was an outlet system, scratch and dent, I couldnt pick and choose my parts, and I spent a LOT of time finding my deal, there will always be a better deal, if I had the money to spend at the time, I would have happily ordered new, and gotten a 7000 series cpu, bluetooth,9 cell etc, I had a fixed amount of money to spend, and spent a long time searching out a killer deal, the outlet varies greatly, in general its about 50% decent deals, 40% not so good, 5 % really good deals, and 5 % killer deals, and the m1210 are the hardest to get right now as they are one of the most poular, and get snatched up and held up in someones cart the instant they get posted, at least dell puts a time limit on inactive carts, I wish they put a system limit of 5 at a time on it, cause it can be hard to find anything. I spent countless hours of finding no systems at all, and then when I would find a deal worth checking out, by the time I'd try to cart it, it was already in someone elses cart. As I said, you'll always find a better deal, just like all the posts on here "should I wait for the new thing?, or will be cheaper next week?" the only thing you can do is look for a system at a price you can afford with the features you want/need, then buy it and dont worry about it. In my searches I found a couple much better deals than I ended up getting, but they got snatched up before I could get them, I'm sure if I waited I could have another, but that could've taken weeks, or more
-
last night there were 25 m1210s on the outlet now there are 2 in 3 minutes there could be 25 again you spend a lot of time checking for the best deal that interests you but eventially you can find what you are looking for and willing to pay

Yes that is a very good price. However, as stated you can get better deals in the outlet.
-
I am in Japan, therefore my options are limited. Either I have to buy the above mentioned one from the Japanese DELL site or ask one of my friends to buy one from US and ship it (which is bit of a hassle, considering shipping and warranty issues etc.)

Iceman, what sort of battery life are you getting on yours, if you don't mind? I love the 1210 and in Canada we pay much more than you in the US for that system (less than our UK brothers and sisters though), but was still considering it except for the shorter battery life than I ended up with. Also, how is the screen outdoors? Thanks.
Back to pricing, have there been any good deals in Canada? Every time I've priced out the 1210 on sale, it's always been over 1,500 Can. -

I have the 6 cell batt, and with screen dimmed down midway, video card set to max battery and wifi on I can get around to 3.5 to 4 hours of general productivity, net, office apps, photo browsing etc,, watching a full length dvd I get 2.5 to 3, with the video card at performance levels I can loop 3dmark 05 for a litttle over an hour with wi-fi off and no optical drive usage I plan on getting a 9 cell in the near future
-
Right, cheers. How about the screen outdoors, have you tried it? Thanks.
Is this a good price for an XPS M1210 ?
