i just bought a studio 17 with virtually the same setup
i love it! cant stop raving to my friends how awesome it is
so far no problems, i reloaded my OS and it works great
unless ur doin some hardcore gaming this will be more than you need
buy it, you wont be sorry -
That's not too bad with that sort of warranty. I think you will also be very happy with the LED screen, I really like mine/
-
Thanks for your help and insight. Two more questions if you dont mind:
Do you think the warranty is over kill? its like $450 out if the $1550 plus tax $150. the cpu is like close $900.
Also is this laptop middle of the road or higher end?
thank you! -
Just add to the screen 1440x900 LED
It is better -
-
-
I was surprised on first look too, but Yea 1440x900 with LED is better than 1280x768 with LED!
So YES FOR ME 100% WORTH! -
Heres a tip, their telling you to get an LED screen, good advice. So drop the warranty down a bit to recoup some money and buy the LED screen. When you have enough money at a later date extend the warranty. Infact if you extend it later you might be able to haggle the price with them.
-
I agree. I would forgo a little warranty for the LED screen I have.
-
I have the same Studio 15 heading my way...but 320 GB hard drive, and Blu Ray player, and 1920x1200 screen, for 1,054$ shipped. Look for coupons online.......
-
thanks all for the input!
is that $1054 price with tax and any warranty? where for studio coupons I searched online cannot find one
thanks -
Its 25% any 1399 or higher....
-
this is the only one i can find? 25% off Dell XPS M1330 & M1530 Laptops $1399+ Coupon Code: 9197FGL4LXBKSM
do you have a code?
thanks -
yea thats the one I used, +5% DPP discount and 75$ customer satisfaction coupon I had....
-
it works on Studio laptops
-
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so whats better to go with
better processor:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9400 (2.530GHz/1066Mhz FSB/6MB cache) [add $175 or $5/month1]
or better screen
Hi Resolution/Bright, glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) [add $125]
if you had to pick one? i reduced the warranty to two years. amex will add another year for free so i have 3 yrs
thanks!! -
I'd go with the screen.
-
I got the P8400 processor and a 1920x1200 screen...
-

Sillyrabbit, congrats on the new Studio 1537.
My studio is on order and almost a clone of your specs except no 64-bit Vista and I added a Blu-ray drive.
Now that you have the new laptop, would you change your specs to add or delete any features?
My detailed order specs are listed here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=334198 -
Thanks Ice Cold and congrats Flats!
I really wouldnt change anything the notebook is sweet and almost perfect but...
i am a little disappointed with sound/audio is way too low not sure how to fix this. anyone else notice the sound is low!
Is this a good setup / price? Studio 15
