A0408288 1 Active Noise Cancellation Headphones
    A0512166 1 COMPUTRACE - LoJack for Laptops 3 Year
    2 Year In-Home warranty

The total price was $2,056. However, I was able to use the $750 off coupon and ordered it for $1,306 plus tax and overnight shipping.

Did I get a good deal?

Also, for anybody who wants to use the coupons AFTER 4,000 people havce already used them, here's what I did. I configured the computer online and then saved it to my cart. Then I called and got the person on the phone to bring up my cart. I told him I was trying to use the $750 off coupon and it would not work. He asked for the coupon number and looked it up. He tried to use it and of course it wouldn't work just like it wouldn't work for me.

Then he put me on hold for a long time and came back and told me it must be because 4,000 people probably used the coupon. And he told me I would notbe able to use it because of that.

So I said to him, "I guess I should just wait until Thursday then and order it AFTER the NEW coupons come out" Then he asked if he could put me on hold one more time while he "checked" to see if anybody figured out how to use the coupon yet.

I was on hold for a very long time again. Then, "magically" he came back and told me he had "figured out" how to get the coupon to still work even though 4,000 people had already used it. After about 10 more minutes of him doing whatever he did, I had my price of $1,306 instead of the original $2,056.

    Edit:

Called today and had them change the XP Pro to Media Center 2005 for $149 less. Then had them change the 1 GB of RAM from 2 Dimm to 1 Dimm for $175 more.
Basically it made my final price before tax go up $26 from $1,280 before to $1,306 now.
This way when I get it, I can just pop in another 1 GB chip, instead of having to buy 2 new ones to replace the 2 - 528's is was going to come with before.
I don't need the domain thing that's the only difference in XP Pro.

Yeah, dell is a bit strange. It will offer the best hardware in the higher configurations. You can't use a coupon after it has expired (whether by date or # of uses). You'll have to wait til later this week for the new coupons to be issued.

Bit I DID use it, even after the guy told me it was expired for too many uses. I already placed my order. That's what I was talking about in my post.....HOW I got them to do it for me.

lol, let me rephrase my statement then. You can not use the coupon on the web once it has expired. Dell's chat support does make exceptions sometime, yet i've heard that they are really sticky about applying the web coupons.

    Congrats!
It seems like alot of people are buying the E1505 and E1705, is there going to be issues with it being fully available in the near future?

Does anyone know why XP Media Edition has been removed from the E1505 and why the name has changed to "Inspiron 6400" ?

I'm not sure what you mean? When I go to dell.com it still shows an E1505 today and you still have the choice of Media Center Edition. It's not called XP Media Edition though, but from what I've been told, Media Center is exactly like XP Pro only difference is it doesn't have support for connecting to business domains like the XP Pro does.

I just ordered my laptop on Tuesday with a ship date of July 7th.

Yesterday morning it went from Pre-Production to Boxing.

Now today, it went from Boxing to Shipped. I got Overnight shipping, so it will already be here TOMORROW!!!!

Order Tuesday, arrive Friday!!!!! That, to me, is incredible for a custom configured laptop!!!!

cktb - I ordered this past Sunday and it was shipped between Wed. and Thurs. (not overnight, though). Our systems are very similar - however, you get the award for having the sense to call before placing your order online. I could not apply the 750-coupon either, but I just assumed they wouldn't make an exeption for me, so I PAID for it. Congrats!

Don't the rest of you laugh too hard at my poor pricing decisions! I have to worry about how my husband is going to respond when he sees how much EXTRA STUFF I put into this unit (for the little stuff that I'll do with it). I have the money for it, but we didn't need the TV - we have TiVo! I guess it was another "just in case" decision for me. Yeah - I got GREEDY!

    Enjoy!
