I ordered on the 23rd of July and the original ETD was 8/16. Obviously, there's no sign of any laptop, so I phoned them and they said that the "paint" would arrive on the 20th and then they can start building it right away, and it would arrive on the 27th. I'm planning to cancell my order but is it OK to cancel it right away they've build it, ie. on the 21st or even the 25th.![]()
Oh yeah, don't trust the order status site, it's total BS...

how do you get to that screen? all i get is the stupid numbers and the specs of the laptop.

You just go to the Dell website and find the tab called "Order Status" then just enter your info.

You could be mature...

Well, they should be taught a lesson and I have the necessary rights to do it, especially since I'd want the new XPS 1730 (I'll probably get it earlier since it has a different paint job).

For Dell Canada, Production means your payment method has been approved. It doesn't mean all your parts are available it's actually being built.
First off, July 23rd to August 16th seems like a very short amount of time for what others have been waiting for, so they may have been too aggressive in their estimate. Even out to the 27th of August is shorter than many. However, if you do need to cancel, by all means do so. Just know that there's a 99% chance Dell will resell it to someone else, with no loss to them. So a good way to spite them? Not really.
On the other hand, you could ask for some form of compensation for missing the ESD. I think you'll be able to work something out. -
In terms of "good" I was referring to morally acceptable, not in terms of financial destruction.
Is this a good way to spite Dell for its delays?
