Alright, I've been using my Vostro pretty extendedly, and all of a sudden, about two seconds ago while using it, I heard a "click" and then the PC shut off. The blue lights were off, and the chargers light doesn't work anymore. Worse, the laptop won't turn on. What so ever....

Anyone know what the deal is? :(

My Toshiba did that once. But it I was pushing it pretty hard and it had gotten really hot. It cut off because of heat.

How long was your system running, what programs were you running when it happened and did you notice it getting hot?

Heat damage is not your friend!

Hmm...it's been on since about 9 this morning, but it's been in and out of sleep mode. When it "crashed" it was only running IE.

Sounds like you had a bad charger, to me.

You were probably spending all that time running on battery power. When it ran out of juice, so did your laptop.

I'm talking to tech support , i'm sure it's not the ac adapter. It works, and when I move it to another outlet the LED on it coems back, but bam, as soon as I connect it ot the laptop and the LED goes out.

    Sounds fried.

I had this problem with an iBook once. I ended up having to replace the motherboard.

Well, if it is still less than 30 days I would have requested a new laptop.

Call Dell Customer Service ASAP. Their phone number is on their main webpage. Tell them you want to return the laptop and request a new one in exchange. Also ask for a credit because of the inconvenience. Make something up like you were planning to take it on a trip and now you can't. ;)

Dang. Two weeks. I hope that was just a lemon and not a bad omen for the rest of us, at least I got a 3 year warranty.

If Tech Support was telling the truth I should have the exchange unit in 15 - 18 days...but I have no clue where to track it or anything.

A notebook should definitely be able to handle that without dying like that. I'm sure the notebook was just faulty.
