So, I ordered the laptop in my signature on November 10th. It is supposed to be shipped on the 20th. I know this much. Yet everyday day, several times a day, i check the site to see if it says something other than "In Production" and to see if it says a ship date earlier than November 20th. I want this thing NOW! That's the worst thing about ordering stuff. Especially expensive, cool stuff. The waiting! If they came back and put a later ship date I might cry. Well, not really. But I'd be a little sad. Maybe a tear. :p

I needs it! I'm so desperate to install HL2 on it and drool. It may not be the most up-to-date graphics out there, but I was playing the game on an Athlon XP 2500+, Geforce FX5600 system before this and I'm so anxious to max out the settings and see how pretty it looks compared to before.

And I want to talk about my coming laptop a lot, but my girlfriend would probably rip my head off. Part of it probably having to do with her being a Mac person, and me being a PC person.

its is a completely normal. I have a obsession with tracking numbers. I check on Saturday and Sundays about 50 times a day even though they are not working. I ordered a E1505 a week ago and it got lost by UPS, so imagine how I feel :( Ready to pull my hair out

its really, really not normal. I would however, conclude it to be common and statistically frequent : )

Meh, it is normal. Try waiting little over a month to receive your E1705..

I remember when I was waiting for my desktop computer parts (GPU, CPU, Case) and I was frantic. I keep looking out the window and searching near the front door. I think I almost, literary, went crazy. Almost.

it's absolutely normal. I used to check my dell order status page once every few hours hoping it'd moved from In production to shipped. The worst part is the waiting after they've shipped it.

I am getting the E1705 also, although I am yet to order it. Meanwhile since I can't check the production page yet, I instead build it on Dell's website a few times a day and check the price. Look at it, think about it, drool. I do this all on a screen which has about 40% of it working normally.

Woohoo! I just got a call with a recording from UPS telling me that my Dell package would arrive tomorrow. I read that they ship out from a location in Nashville TN, which is only a few hours from where I live. i had a feeling it would be getting here soon.

    :D

It seems most get their PC's and laptops within a week to 10 days no matter what the ship date states. Of course, there are exceptions...

I definitely understand the checking, and now the UPS stalking as I call it. When I am at work, it isn't really kosher for me to be doing that, but I might at the beginning of the week if it ships soon. I am going to be leaving notes for the UPS guy since I don't get home from work until 4:30...

My router was supposed to take 7-10 days after shipping on Tuesday evening, but is getting here tomorrow...

it was quite the wait. I live in India. And dell in India doesn't offer XPS systems. I guess they think Indians don't have the money to buy the m1710.. well, not exactly cos they do sell m1210. :). but still i wonder why they wont give us m1710 laptops

here's the indian dell. http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/notebooks?c=in&l=en&s=bsd check it out. its got nothing.

so i had to get it all the way from UK at a much higher cost than if i had bought it in UK. Think abt this...

    --cost of an m1710 plus
    --vat tax in UK
--shipping charges for a 10 pound package to India
--port of entry tax in india.

had to pay 250$ more than you guys in the US just to get it to India... :(

had to wait 2 months for that. haggling with dell for 20 days to get them to ship it to india and the rest to haggle with the indian government, that its not some WMD and they can let it pass south.

but it was worth the wait. this thing is like nothing i've seen before..

those 2 months, was the longest. infact i'm typing this from the same lappie i'm talking abt... :)

I am on my new Dell now! :D

The screen is so **** big. Everything is crisp and clear. I'm sure I have to get rid of a lot of bloatware. It's odd. Someone said that Dell didn't give an operating system CD with their systems, but I got one.

I'm not totally sure if I'm going to reformat now or not. I want to see how well I can do with just trying to uninstall it.

I'm anxious to install a game and see how it looks.

I got my Dell/UPS call today, except half of it was cut off since it went to voicemail....

UPS tried to deliver my wireless router today, but needs a signature for that and they come by my place at 10am-2pm which in no way I can just be around for, so I am going to be taking a sick day Tuesday, leaving UPS guy a note Monday so I can get my router and laptop Tuesday afternoon... I need a day off anyways, haha...
