    Hello,

I'm trying to look for coupons and such... I'm really interested in buying an M1730 with...

    x9000
    4GB RAM
    8700 SLI
    WUXGA resolution

for $2500?? Do you think I can find it around that price?? So far I have seen them for $3000-$3200.

I can get one with an X7900.... but in your guys oppinions is that ok?? From reviews they say it can increase battery life and performance by 20%!!!

However, maybe my price range might not be realistic for a x9000.... what do you guys think?? I'm dead set on M1730 though... I have a XPS Gen 2 (old model) and love it... just a bit slow nowadays :)

    Jeff.

T9300, SLI 87's, and 2 GB comes out to 2.4k. Buy your own RAM, you're at 2.5k, done.

Check out the dell outlet. The prices are much cheaper there. I would drop the x9000 and get the 8800's...but thats just me.

    What nizzy said +1.

I personally will not pay over 2k for any laptops.

The reason for the x9000 is that I require much more processing power than graphics processing power. I rarely play PC games. I program games, but nothing in the DX10 era or anything near to take advantage of any of the higher end cards.

However, I could use the speed for compiling my code, running apps, etc.

So thats why I really want the x9000 or x7900 (if you guys think the x7900 is comparable)

What do you guys still think?

Plus, I can do without the 8800 for now and get them later when they become cheaper.... since I have read I can upgrade that.

    Jeff.

Get the one w/ 8800 since you can easily upgrade the cpu spending alot less buying CPU's from other sources.

    Achilles,

Even if I wanted to get the 8800's now, the lowest "new" prices are over 3k... too ridiculous for me. There hard to find on the refurbs as well... this is why I wanted to wait on the 8800's since their upgrade brought the price out of range.

Price range will be way out if you are going to upgrade in the future.
