Just wondering if this is the norm (not really according to these forums). Let me explain my adventure.

I bought an Dell 15R SE in December of last year. Great computer with no issues and my mother ended up liking it. So it went to my mom.

Then in February I decided to get me a 15R SE (added MSata to this one, i7 the works) and had a host of problems. Wireless issues, MSata issues, screen center issues. I cannot get anything done through normal channels so I go to BBB and post and get an exchange after much frustration (I paid for 3 years next day service and they wanted me to ship it back). The exchange did happen though and I elected for a 17R SE.

So get the 17R SE and first thing I find is 2 drive bays, nice. So I go on a 11 hour journey to get my SSD installed and setting up the stock drive as a secondary drive, that worked out and I was a happy camper. Plays games like a boss and no issues. Then yesterday it starts this strange hissing/sizzling sound. I check everything to make sure it is not sound related. Seems to be coming from the motherboard, arggg.

So I call Dell and they want me to ship it to the depot. Well, without much though out of my mouth flies "you gotta be fing kidding me", didn't mean to say it, it was just a "oh no not again moment". So now they are shipping me a replacement.

Am I the most unlucky person or is this the norm? I mean all I want is a computer that works. I have always had a trend of bad luck but this is expensive and just want it to work.

Can I hope my next one just works? Good thing about this whole mess is I am gonna just drive swap. I mean wow, really?

Well most of us have had little problems, it seem that some do seem to get struck multiple times with a dud.

The main thing is Dell will replace or repair the laptop, but I do share your concern that they seem to not want to do the in home service, makes me wonder if they don't have a tech in your area

I have no idea if there is a repair person close. I do know on my first machine they were going to replace the fan and the man called me from about two hours away.

Typed on my third machine now. I hope this one is it because I am about dog tired of the issues.
