I just got a 700m with the extended battery..ship date is the 25th...very excited except im worried about the bat=tery being big and annoying. I was reading cnet customer reviews, one person said this:
"On the left side of the machine are two USB ports, SD card reader, external monitor plug, and 1 PCMCIA (PCI Slot these days?). On the right hand side is the modem, Ethernet, modem, AC power input, S-Video and CD/DVD drive. The 1394 connection, microphone, and Headphone jacks are housed in the front. No device connections are in the back of the unit because that is where the battery is connected. This is a great feature because when using the machine on AC power with a fully charged battery you can disconnect the battery. This will increase the batteries life span. Laptops I have used in the past have the battery built into the bottom of the machine leaving a huge hole in it when it is removed. If you buy this machine, remember to take advantage of this feature."
So basically, if you're on AC power, you don't need the battery? That would be great, then you wouldn't have to carry it around if you have a plug...IS THIS TRUE?

ya that is true i just tried it to make sure and it worked fine for me

So basically, lets say I know I have a plug, I take out the extended battery and take my laptop with me without a battery , as long as I plug iot into a wall itll work fine??? HOW DOESTHAT WORK?
And what if by accident I unplug it while it's on? Will it just shut off?
If this works, that's AWESOME. Howcome this doens't work with other notebooks...or does it? -
any laptop will work on a/c power alone without a battery. you don't need a battery to run on a/c power.

It's true that you don't need battery if you are on A/C power. In fact, I am using my I6000 right now with A/C power and my battery is stored somewhere else. However, if I pull the plug, the computer will shut down immediately.
