Today I was configuring a Dell Inspiron 1525 and on all 4 of the options price range $599-$849 you get a message like http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DNCWKB1&s=dhs
You even get that same link when you configure the old 1520. (link is the old 1520, but just go to the 1525 and u'll get the same thing).

Now I haven't followed the 1525 so I don't recall if it EVER did have a GFX option but I damn well remember the 1520 having 3 options:
    X3100
    8400GS
8600GT (I mean you can not forget about the huge GDDR2/GDDR3 fiasco)

And its been about 2 months and there still is no option for dedicated GFX, and they link you to the XPS M1530.

Is Dell really trying to push the XPS M1530, and cutting out the mainstream, budget cost inspiron 1525? Are they EVER going to have an option for dedicated GFX?

    Your inputs are greatly appreciated!

I highly doubt it... however you can still buy the Vostro 1500.. it has the 8600GT and is identical to the inspiron 1520.

I'd say its a rip off. First off, you pay like $300 more for the base configuration. Then you have to pay another $150 for the 8600GT. Nice Dell, just rip us all of now will ya.

That's what I was thinking, and I thought I might share it. For me the is a huge hit because the awesome Dell coupons can really seal the deal, but not having even a MEAGER 8400GS option for the configuration? That ridiculous! Trying to push some childish overpriced toy with the "XPS" logo on it will really change my mind, especially that nice juicy $500+ price differential between the two.
