I'm going to call Dell and order a M1330 this afternoon. I know the wait for this model is "fairly" long, but that's not going to be a problem for me as I still have my desktop in the mean time.

I'm trying to get the price to around $1500 or so, but with the LED display upgrade the price is already @ $1499. So what I was wondering is do I need to upgrade the RAM to 2GB through Dell? Does the 1GB config come in 1 DIMM or 2 DIMMS? If it comes in 1 DIMM, I can always add another GB RAM myself at minimal cost.

It comes in dual channel mode, so 2x512MB sticks.

    thanks for the reply.

Also, does the 9 cell battery protrude out in the back of the M1330 like it does on some other Dell notebooks? What about the difference in battery life on 9 cell vs 6 cell? Dell only lists the weight difference between the batteries but not the difference in battery life (or I missed it completely). TIA.

The 9 cell protrudes mostly downwards from the bottom of the chassis, but does extend a little further back as well.

In terms of battery life, you can multiply any battery life for a 6 cell by 1.5X since it's 85WHr versus 56WHr for the 6 cell.

Get the 2 gb of ram in other vendor, dell is expensive for ram, you can get two ram sticks (2x1GB) half the price in any other place.
