Just Cancelled Midnight Blue 1520 and Reorderd Black

Hi, I just cancelled my midnight blue 1520, after realizing that I would be recieving it as a birthday present instead of a graduation gift (my birthday is 12/15), and instead opted for the Jet Black color which people claim will come a lot faster. Now I am wondering, my ESD is 8/28, yet I will move on 8/24. is there any chance that it will ship early with my config... because i heard people with jet black orders are shipping way earlier than expected. Also something curious to note, I hope its a glitch on dell.com, but on the hard drive area, you have two choices to upgrade to the better drive (7200 HDD SATA Drive) from the 5400 rpm one. Both are described as the exact same, but one is (-25$) and the other is like +75$ or w/e. I did the -25$, hoping that it was a glitch. Can anyone confirm?

It probably won't ship till they say, I ordered mine the 5th pretty much the same config as you and mine won't ship till the 17th. I hope it ships early but I won't be disappointed as long as it ships on the 17th.

 

My estimated ship date was 8/22. Checking the 800 number about an hour ago, my system was in the boxing stage, so I'm hoping that it ships within the next day or two. I did get jet black.

Just today, i couldnt stand that bs wait any longer. I originally ordered the first one 7/10, ESD 8/9 ---> 8/28. Also, I didnt order the premium care bundle originally, and I noticed that itll actually be $100 cheaper w/ it plus LoJack + 3 Year McCaffee. So that was another reason why I cancelled the original order. Also guys, is this McCaffee AV Suite they provide us with good? Cause im trying to find reviews but im never sure if Im reading the right one. I hope it doesnt slow the system down a lot or imma have to uninstall and buy norton or something.

Yeah I dunno, again a large reason for me changing was the deal I didnt know about originally. Because in the end both my systems would have shipped about the same, I just hope I get early shipping on my black so that I can do all that crap that takes like 5 hours to do when u get a new laptop. (Install programs, connect to internet, uninstall bloatware etc. etc.)

 

i did the same thing. i canceled my midnight blue 1420 (Ordered on 8/1/07 ESD 8/23/07) and ordered a jet black on 8/4/07 (ESD 8/22/07) but its still in production...

I think the black honestly looks the best of all the colors, except maybe the yellow. All the rest of them are too designer-ish, I like just straight-on colors.

 

Average shipping date for most Jet blacks is 7 days after DOP.

 

Nice. Most of what I've been reading outside the forums says that black and white currently aren't experiencing any delays.

Looks like Dell shot themselves in the foot with the color-choice gimmick. Great marketing idea, but seems like they just weren't prepared for it.

 

i think they might have still been expecting black/white to be highest on sales, but I guess not.

 

I think I did the right thing by not doing anything like this; My 1520 (blue) just went from pre-production to shipping in 24 hours after having an EDD of Aug 28th (I ordered it on Jul 25th).

 

Again, part of it was cause i messed up my order by doing not doing the premium protection plan. It gave me lojack for 3 years, and came out to be $100 cheaper that what it innitally was.
