I just got my Vostro today, and I am pleased. There were some problems I "thought" I had but they turned out to be nothing.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the people on this forum for helping me out for the last couple of months. Through helpful advice and witty jokes you guys have made the whole process of making a laptop a real breeze, from sleepless nights of research, to comparisons of every laptop in the market and finally to the waiting stage. Even though I only had to wait a week for my laptop, I have been on this forum almost 10 hours a day (not an exaggeration). So to thank all of you, I will write one really thorough review of my Vostro 1500. And I know there have been countless reviews but this is for the people who have had their laptops delayed and still need to read one more review to keep them from being insane.

In this review, I will also compare this laptop to my two older laptops, the Inspiron 1000 and the Toshiba Satellite M45 S265.

On a good note, I don't see any graininess on my screen. In fact, it is one of the most beautiful screens I have ever seen. Black is actually black!!!!! Its not a dark gray like on many laptops. The contrast levels are amazing and colors are rich, its breath-taking. My battery does not wobble, but it does move maybe .2 mm. I mean come on, that is not a wobble. The computer is dead silent, I mean it doesn't even seem like its running. However, I do have the headphone noise, but its fine since you can't notice it when playing something.

Give me 1 hour, and I will have your review + comparison

Sounds great! Although I think you've been spending too much time on here. ;) It's great that you're giving back to the community in the form of a review. We can never get enough user opinions around here.

Congrats. I'm considering the Vostro 1500 WSXGA+, and graininess is a BIG issue for me. (I returned my MBP, and now my T61 is going back, due to serious grain issues) It's good to hear that yours doesn't have it. And what a price you paid for it. whew
