in my opinion you have over spent. The T2600 does not increase performance that much and that you only need it if you are using photoshop. The Ram is good and everything else looks good.

Congrats on your new purchase. I share your excitement, as I just ordered an XPS M1710 yesterday. As for dells ship estimates, they are usually a bit on the conservative side. My new lappy is already done with the testing stage and it hasn't even been a full 48 hours since I ordered it.

My wife would tend to agree with you, what the hell, its only money. Not going to using this as a gaming platform anyway, just wanted something to travel with. I know there are better systems out there for this purpose, but I like the 1210 the best.

Congratulations on your purchase! I just got my XPS1210 yesterday and very excited! I spent at least 4 hours last night reinstalling Windows (I needed a clean install) and everything is working great!

Speaking of that, is a clean install really preferred? I have a friend that is more than capable of doing it for me, but does the performance really improve a noticable difference?
Or is it more, just to get the bloatware off the hard drive?
    Thanks

By the way, I learned a lot reading the posts to this forum, and I appreciate a good place like this, keep up the good work.

It's probably not that important, but some people like to start things off as good as possible because we all know that computers only get slower as you get settled in.

I've had the m1210 for about a week now and I simply LOVE it. I'm a college student with a craving for awesome (but affordable) tech, and I can say, this is one laptop that's drool-worthy on the outside, and powerful on the inside. It's small and light enough to carry around without getting worn out, and the webcam is a nice touch.

One thing I was shocked to discover, the earbuds that come with the AV package are Sennheiser CX300 earbuds! I already had a pair, so I gave them to my sister, but these things are amazing and cost $50 to buy separately! What a deal.

The keyboard is full-sized, which is great, but the flex on the right side is horrendous. It doesn't affect the typing and I must admit, the worst part of my annoyance is probably the fact that I know it's there.

The screen is beautiful, almost too pristine looking. It does have quite a low viewing angle though, as I discovered with people trying to watch movies. But for something so small and portable like this, you probably don't want to share it anyways. ;)

It's great for media, games (plays Oblivion at almost full detail) and fitted with everything you could need in a laptop. I might actually be keeping this one for a while, it seems like a winner! I hope you enjoy yours!

From what I understand and have heard, a clean install might be the best option. However, I have also heard that it messes up the dell media direct software.

I saw that keyboard flex today at the Dell Kiosk in the mall. It seems they need a little more support under that one area.
