Judging by how long you've been waiting to go through with this, I would be nothing short of disappointed in you if it was a bad deal. that being said, I'm in no position to judge, because I'm not canadian.

Sad to say, but I think there has been better deals.... I think I just configured the same computer you got there... but with the 1080p screen for about 1100...

Either way.. that's Dell for you... You will really enjoy the computer.

I guess my only question is... Why do you need one for high school...I mean... University yes... but it seems lots of kids are getting laptops for high school... Mind you you realize in the end that high school was a waste of time, but still, just a big distraction. IMO...

You can't change technology. I grew up playing Super NES and a walkman while my nephew/nieces are growing up with the PS3 and Computers, DVD players, ipods etc. Its just the way things are now lol. My niece is 5 years old and she knows how to email her parents while they're at work etc. Its a whole new generation, whether you like it or not. If you don't buy them the laptop/ipod/computer, whatever, they'll just be the outcast. Everyone around them, their friends, classmates, peers, will have these things.

I'd never buy my kids apple products - I'd want them to go through the learning experience that is windows, preferably starting them on Millenium Edition. :D

But more to the point, not buying them laptops or computers is closer to not taking them to the park to interact with other kids than not buying them a toy. Instead of limiting one specific mode of interaction you're taking away a whole set of interactions, and I doubt that's healthy.

If I had children right now, I would not buy them a notebook. They could have a desktop in their room, but a notebook - nope. A desktop is easier to upgrade and cheaper, so I wouldn't have to replace it anywhere near as often.

If they want a notebook to go to college / university with, well they can buy it themselves.

I grew up having the bare essentials provided for by my parents. As soon as I could work, I did, and I paid everything from then on out by myself (except household bills, but even then I contributed on a monthly basis). If this didn't happen, my children would not gain the understanding of the true value of money that I have now. Also, when you buy something yourself, you hold it to be more precious than if your mum and dad bought it for you.

    That's just my opinion.

Anyway, glad you have your machine on order, hopefully it will arrive soon and serve you well.

    Regards

Remember people. They're buying y laptop and I'm paying them back. The laptop isn't only for school. It's for all my websites, email, etc. My
parents didn't want to buy me it, but my mom said I deserved it. I help my mom cook and clean and I massage her lol. I help do chores more than my 17 year old brother. Another reason I wanted this notebook is that my brothers always using the desktop and he tells me not do anything without asking him because he pretty much run the house :( But of course there are rules to it lol.
