Hey![]()
Today 4-23-08 I put in an order at dell for a dell d630.
I'm very excited about itand its going to be hard for me to wait till it comes which should be on may 2.
I think I got a pretty Good Deal on it also.
The specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo T9300, 2.50GHz, 800Mhz, 6ML2 Cache.
2.0GB, DDR2-667, 2 DIMMS.
14.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA+.
128MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M.
120GB Hard Drive 9.5MM 5400RPM.
Touchpad with UPEK fingerprint reader.
Vista Home Basic with media.
8X DVD+/-RW.
Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN.
6-Cell/56 WHr Primary Battery.
I got it for $1200.26with free next day shipping.
I will probably do a review of it after I get it.
Oh, I also plan on replacing the memory with 2x2GB sticks of pc2-5400 ram and installing windows xp pro x64 or vista ultimate x64, most likely xp though.
Anybody have some tips or somthing to say?

Congratulations on your purchase. Looks like a good system. User trebuin did a massive performance comparison of 32bit and 64bit versions of XP, Vista, and 2008. Results are mixed, take a read for yourself to see which one you like better.

Congrats on your purchase!
I've had my D630 for about eight months now--and I love it! It's a great machine.
Don't be surprised if it arrives before May 2. I know when I ordered mine, they estimated a ship date about two or three weeks out, but I actually had it in just under one week.

oohoo Goodie
I hope in comes soon...OF COURSE
My desktop computer is using vista ultimate x64 currently and I do notice a bit more performance with it over x32.
Thanks for the replies.
In the mean time I'm finally going to be able to get an eeepc.
I know I just got a dell and might not need the eee but I still would like to have a nice little small guy for small things and other... well you know... maybe...my goodness i'm going insane
I'll do video reviews on both computers once I receive them. -
Congrats, you'll love it! I don't have much to say in terms of tips because everything just plain works well right out of the box. You don't have to worry about performing a clean install to get rid of bloatware, cause there is none! (the best part of buying a business laptop)
You can actually get started using it right away.
Oh. I do have one thing, it only comes with a mono speaker (If you look at the front edge of the computer you'll see the slits for it) so it may not sound as good as other systems, though I think it sounds just fine.In that case, you can just plug in headphones.
Gerrard8 created an D630 owner's thread here too, so there might be some useful stuff there as well. - Link to thread
Have fun with it,
