I received the 2nd of 2 orderered 1520s, this one is pink. The problem is... The case itself. On the left hand side of the keyboard on the outside right above the pci card slot, the black bottom doesnt connect correctly with the silver top. It clicks or makes a clicking noise when you squeeze it. It is like it didn't get sealed properly or a tab is missing or something that holds the base to the top. Anyone else hear of this or see this? Otherwise, this is a great laptop. I got a free upgrade to 8400 gs video on it. We waited 34 days to receive the laptop... so anyone waiting more than 30 may want to "request" an upgrade!

    Best Wishes,

If this defect bothers you contact dell's support and report this issue, see if you can get another one shipped out, i mean you spent 1000+ so why not be completly happy :)

Yeah I got basically the same issue. Its more inbetween the pcimcia card slot and the cpu heatsink. If you flip over the unit youll notice that theres no screw in this particular area, due to the thermal cooling unit, but on the other side there is a screw (next to the windows key sticker). You and I arent the only ones to notice this issue. Ive put up a post about it, but only had 1 other person reply. Let me know if you send it back b/c of this. Ive thought about it. Ill bet the palmrest on the 1420 doesnt click above the cpu. Its smaller.

anyways, I called Dell, like the previous poster said, I paid 1000+ dollars and I should damn well be happy. Dell tech support told me the only thing I could possibly do is ship the laptop to the "depot" to be repaired. Well, I talked with customer service and mentioned the "advanced replacement" and without really any questions asked, she set me up with a reference number etc. Dell has really amazing customer support in my case and Ive heard the same throughout forums recently.
