    I am really new to this whole laptop thing. I have been reading the post on this site for sometime and trying my hardest to "understand" and learn as much as possible. I started out wanting an Alienware. However, after reading all of the negative post, I decided the Dell experience would be better for my longterm blood pressure!

    I fly for a living, soo I spend half of my life on the road. Since I spend soo many hours in hotel rooms I really want a laptop that I can game on. I would really like to get the XPS 17". I love the fact it has the highest quality video card (from what I have read and understand). However, since I will be hauling this thing around the country and taking it in and out of its bag at every TSA airport security gate throughout the country, I am a little concerned about the overall size of it. I see that Dell has come out with the XPS1210. Is it hard to game on a 12" screen?? What I really need/want is a XPS 15.5"!

    Anyhoo, is there a big difference between the 7900GTX and other 7900 video card that can be upgraded on the Inspiron? Is there a big difference between gaming on a 15" vs. a 17" screen? Do any of you out there who own a 17" travel a lot with it? Sorry to ask such lame questions, but before I drop a few thousand bucks I want make sure I make the right choice.

    anyways, you need to really figure out what you're comfortable with in terms of size versus portability.

    i would suggest filling out the "What should i buy" sticky and posting your answers. you will get some good suggestions.

    I would suggest to look at Dell's Business line of Latitudes. They are more sturdy and durable - better built for traveling.

    I use to take my 9300 to school everyday, and I can tell you that it is a pain to carry. Most of the bags are bulky for the larger laptops, so you are better off just buying a plain sleeve with strap, but it is still difficult just because of the size of it.

    Also, IMO, the inspirons are not built for traveling everyday. I'm not really sure how the XPS would measure up, but the latitude line is the best built out of the 3 series.

    i thought the video cards offered for the lattitudes were not suitable for gaming?

    The M90 for example has the same video card basically as the XPS m1710 (Quardro Fx 2500)
