At home I have my desktop's 20" CRT set to 1024 x 768. At work I have a 24" widescreen and while I have the resolution set to the native 1920 x (?) I do have the DPI settings in the Display setting set to 125 DPI which gives me larger fonts and icons and everything else. This is to say that I don't like tiny fonts and I don't need the extra screen real estate that you get with high res screens.
But I'm thinking of going with the 1680 x 1050 screen because I figure it will look better than a lower res after I adjust the DPI to 125 or some other high number.
I've been reading some about the graininess that some people find. Is that more common on the high, med or low res screens? If it is most common on the high res (1680x1050) I will consider going with the lesser resolutions and even save a few dollars?
Also, I'm trying to decide whether to get it with a 6 cell or 9 cell battery. Is a 9 cell heavier than a 6 cell and if so, by how much?
Thanks,
Walt

The higher resolutions screens tend to have a better chance of turning out grainy when you recieve the laptop.
The 9 cell battery is heavier than the 6 cell, and the 9 cell actually sticks out from the back of the laptop. The 6 cell, however, does not stick out, and weighs less. I believe the difference between the two is, give or take, a pound. -
There you go. Gunner already posted what I was about to post!

So I guess if I don't intend to take advantage of the small fonts/extra desktop space of the 1620x1050 screen I would be better off with one of the two lower res screens --- save a few dollars and lower my chance of graininess problems. And I will go for the 6 cell battery, also save a few bucks. (money that I'll use to buy a spare AC adapter to keep at work.)
Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
Just about to buy a 1520 - some questions?
