.. got a few questions. Is the completecare warranty worth it for the Insipiron 9400 (17" screen)? Exactly how bad (some don't seem to be impressed with it) WXGA+ matte screen? Any brighter than the one on the Compaq V2000 (typing on one right now so might as well)? Also, is the carrying case worth it? I wouldn't take out the laptop much if at all. Might occasionally do so if there's a major project though. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The complete care is a user preference. Some users want the security of knowing that if they spilled a drink or had an accident, their laptop would be protected and dell would fix it. I have this because I'm clumsy, but I have yet to use my coverage. I just got it in case I spilled a drink since I did that on my old laptop.

Like the completecare, the screen is also a preference thing. What I like, might not be the same as to what you like. I will say that the screen is pretty bad IMO. Its not bright at all, colors seem to be a bit off, and I'm seriously thinking about upgrading to the truelife screen. If you like glossy screens, then you would most likely like the truelife screen vs. the matte screen.

I'm not sure which carrying case you were looking at. There are several inexpensive choices on ebags.com

Thanks for the reply Southerngirl. Anyway, I've just decided that I'd not get the Dell. Don't get me wrong, it's a great laptop and all, but hey, I just couldn't live with a WUXGA+ screen. Since the matte screen is lackluster and all, I have no alternative but to look elsewhere on my laptop purchase.

hmmm the WSXGA+ Matte screen isn't bad its to bad they don't offer it anymore.

I haven't seen any decent WXGA+ screens from dell yet in either 15" or 17" format :(
