Alright, so I just bought a XPS last night with the below specs for $1251 total (tax included). I will be upgrading to an Intel N wireless card and 4GB ram later on, if needed. Three questions though:

    1) On Dell's "My Account" page, it says:
    Est. Ship Date: 6/17/2008
    Est. Delivery Date: 6/20/2008-6/24/2008

However, I will be leaving for a 3 week vacation on 6/21 so that will be a problem. I want my full 20 days to test the laptop for any problems/defects, but won't be able to have these days with the vacation. There's also the potential problem that my laptop gets delivered after I leave. Is there anything I can do about this?

    2) Will 2GB ram be enough for Vista? I hope to upgrade later on, when the price drops some more.

    3) Is this the "Intel N" wireless card upgrade that everyone's talking about? http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Wireles...5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1212016258&sr=8-5

It's so much cheaper from Amazon than configuring it on my Dell.
Also, I won't be using wireless until late August. Can I expect the price on these cards to drop a lot?

Yep looks good to me. Our specs are almost the same, but you got the LED screen, and I got 4GB Ram, 320GB HD, and the regular 1440x900 screen. I just hope I get the LG screen. But with shipping dell is almost always ships before the expected ship date. I think you you should be ok. :)

Yeah thats nice. :) And yes thats the wireless card. If you dont need it now, I won't bother, just get it when you need it. Also 2GB will be fine for Vista. You can upgrade later for much much cheaper than dell.

About the shipping problem. If you have access to the internet while you're away, be sure to check often and see if they have a tracking number for you. You can find it at the dell website in Order Status. It's most likely going to DHL. As soon as can access your tracking number, call DHL and tell them to delay the delivery until you get back. Nice rig and price, you'll enjoy it.
