That is a pretty sweet deal indeed. Its pretty much the same config as my one, and I paid nearly US$2k for mine (granted I also got the 3 Year XPS Premium warranty as well (Next Business Day on-site + 24x7 Phone Support + CompleteCover)).

What kind of warranty did you configure yours with?

It must be real popular and get snapped up in a splitsecond, everytime I browse through Dell outlet I don't find a single M1210 there... (like right now, but there seems to be a ton of M2010 and M1710 avaliable tho)

What time do you guys do the browsing/shopping? Just so I can at least take a glimpse of one in the outlet store. ;)

im happy you got that.... these are all great deals. I personally dont need the 120 gig HDD... 2 gig ram is not needed either to me, i can always add it on.

I just saw 3 xps1210's all with the integrated video card. And after i pressed refresh it was gone.

plus the greatest thing is my spending limit was 1,200. So even if a better one showed up I would have to pass =\ But i cant be any happier now

angrymob, you pretty much have to sit there and hit submit repeatedly then click and add them to your cart as quickly as you possibly can. Once in your cart you can take a look and see if it is what you want. If not you can remove it. If you delay it will be gone, especially those that are configured with the 7400 card.

The outlet updates constantly, the good deals dont last long at all, and you cant hide items in your cart for more than 15 minutes. If your planning on purchasing, toss thre item in your cart as soon as you see it, as by the time your done reading up on it, it'll more than likely be gone

LOL that was probably me. Hint. You can keep one in your cart longer than 15 minutes if you update your cart. I held on to one or two waiting on the config I wanted. Worked out good.

Yeah, I saw about 3 total pop up that I considered. The only advantage of mine over yours is the hard drive. I doubt I will be using the WWAN.

lol dell outlet is frustrating! There have been so many m1210's I have looked at and right as I hit add to cart, they are gone! It's kind of sad how rare the Geforce 7400 card is in these XPS's in Dell outlet. I'm trying to get a nicely spc'ed one for around $1k.

last week I snagged one with a t5600,2gig 667 ram, 60gig hd,dvdrw, and a gf 7400 for just under a grand shipped, it took me about a week to find one I wanted, I found the best time to look was later in the week, wed to sat, around 3 am to 5 am est,

I ordered it thursday morning, round 4 am, it shipped that day and I got it bright and early monday morning, and I love it, by far the best and most practical portable computer I have ever seen, much less owned. It beats my e1505 into the dust, it was a nice machine, but it was too clunky to just grab and go wherever, through the outlet, the price, power, portability factors dont compare to anything else on the market

Just got my XPS M1210 for $880 shipped...core2duo 5600, 1GigRAM, 60GB HDD (I am planning a 250GB external hardrive later... portable rapidshare :D ), integrated graphics and XP media center.... I am really excited!!

I wanted to know if there are any issues noticed in certified refurbished XPS laptops... ?? experts pls advice...anything specific to look for?

All laptops ordered these days qualify for free vista upgrade... do refurbished ones come with this upgrade option too? I didnt have any options to choose one...although new laptops are given that option.

Anyway, I also heard that the Geforce 7400 is 64 MB dedicated and remaining is shared, is that true? If so its not good for dell to advertize as 256MB graphics card...

You are correct, it comes with dedicated 64MB memory and uses 192MB shared from main memory.

However, it is high level performance/benchmark/gaming results that counts, and from what I've seen on the review results, the Dell implementation seems to be faster out of the box compared with the ASUS W7J and SONY SZ (which uses 128MB dedicated memory on their GF Go 7400).

As far as advertising it as a 256MB graphics card, well, Dell is not the only one that does this, everyone else usually quotes the "higher number" that includes the memory from TurboCache (NVIDIA) or HyperMemory (ATI). Simple marketing really, as Joe average usually thinks higher/bigger is better.

I was lucky enough when I purchased my E1505 that it took me couple days to find the one I wanted. But when I was shopping for my E1705, it was like playing FPS, you HAVE to be so freaking fast. Well, after 2 weeks of refreshing the page, everytime I add one to my cart I couldn't check it out, it happened with 3 systems. For some reaosn, it'll show the stupid " an error has occured, try again or call dell support" The first time I called them to finish the process, the lady didn't know what the hell I was talking about, the system for some reason was removed from my cart " although it happened after idle for 7-8 minutes" so I asked the lady to look for one for me, after a while of being in hold, she told me she found one with the specs that I described to her. She was like, are you ready to purchase it? I asked her to list the specs for me, she was like: it comes with power supply, processor label, processor label. I was like, what are the system specs? she repeated the same stupid stuff, I hang up and went to sleep. Next day I had the same bad luck, I added a system, same thing happened with that error, then the system will disapear from my cart, same thing happened with another system. I called DELL but this time a guy answered the phone and he seemed to know what he was talking about. After telling him the problems that I had, he asked me about the specs and put me on hold for 2 minutes, then came back with almost same specs I wanted, and I purchased it right away. So, sometimes you can give them a call and see, they might help you find a system with nice specs and I guess they can see full list of systems before they hit outlet page.

Since I am not into gaming, I thought of giving the graphics card a slip...

Shopping at dell outlet is really a game :) Notebooks vanish faster than one can imagine.... yesterday I saw 8 pages of XPS 1210 notebooks (yes 8...)...havent seen so many till date... but you see the number of pages reducing as you browse... Infact I see few of them on sale even now...so ppl waiting for their XPS can go ahead and get one soon....

it probably wont, they have a weird price structure in the outlet, I dont know exactly how they do it, but you'll find lots of sub par systems at fairly high prices, and every now and again you'll find a killer rig at a killer price, just takes a lot of time and paitence to get a great deal, I think they just price them acoording to what they were sold for, so if it was bought in a volume discount buy, or heavy coupons, thats reflected in the outlet price. if its withing the 21 day return period you could send it back and try again, though I suspect they would lay a restocking fee on you, especially if there is nothing wrong with the system

Yeah, I hang out at the Outlet a lot. Their pricing is weird. One day, everything is super cheap. Coupl'a days later, the same PC is a few hundred dollars cheaper.

Last week (no coupons or discounts) I got another E1705, T5600 C2D, 1GB RAM, DVD burner and 120GBHDD for $669 at the Outlet. The same thing, this morning, is $939. Go figure. But, I take'em when I can get'em, and don't complain!!

I bought my D820 a little over a week ago and pretty much love it! I do have to say that I look longingly at my wifes BRAND NEW e1505 with the TrueLife screen - the display on her machine is great.

    But my config

core 2 duo 2.16, 2 gb ram, 80 gb 7200 HDD, dvd burner, xp pro, intel wireless, BT, biometric login, 3 yr nbd on site, gold warranty, etc etc for $1600 was a screaming deal - well over 2k to buy this machine new!

This is my second outlet purchase in about 3 years and my last machine worked like a champ!

Do you guys go for the certified refurbs or previously ordered new? I'm planning on getting an m1210 from the outlet but i originally thought it would be best to purchase a 'previously ordered new'. How do you all feel about purchasing a refurb.?

and another question: what if you don't like the screen you m1210 comes with can you complain and have dell change it as they would for a brand new ordered notebook? (i ask because i've heard that some m1210's come with worse lcds than others).

I find that the previously ordered new, to be more expensive than other choices. Personally, I go with the cheapest offered. Like the one in my sig. is a refurb system, but it came with 3year warrenty for no extra $$. So, I'm happy. I had an E1505 that was scratch and dent, it was in an excellent condition when I got it, except for 3 hairy REALLY small lines on the lid.

I've had great luck with scratch and dents, got an e1505 that had one hairline scratch on the lid, that took me half an hour to find, cause I was looking for it, never would have noticed it otherwise, aside from that it was a brand new system, works grat, and no issues

I was wondering if the variable price gives some indication of the condition of the machine... I am not sure about it.. I really hope not

I was scared of the term "scratch and dent" so I decided to go only for certified refurbished... but looking at few user experiences of scratch and dent products, it may have been worth the risk !!

I didnt see much value in 'previously ordered new' it was quite strange...they were selling coreduo laptops for 1150 where you could get a core2duo new one for 1200...

Well I bought a scratch and dent so heres what I can tell you,
The screen has a piece of dust or dirt trapped behind it! not to happy its about the size of two pixels. the bezel above the keyboard was not pushed in and I had to do it, the overall case condition was good, other than that, not a bad deal. heres the specs on my 9400
    T2400 1.83 core duo
    2gigs of 533mhz ram
    80 gig 7200rpm drive, dell said it was a 5400 but I think it is a 7200
    CDRW combo drive
    True Life WUXGA screen
    7800 Geforce GO
    Crappy six cell battery
all for 959 with a 2 year complete care warrenty thats including tax and shipping, I thought about taking it back but it plays games so well I decided to keep it, but I will call dell as it still has some problems.
