Very good price on that laptop. Although the customer support from Dell would scare most people away even with those savings :(

OK, Im really confused right now.

    "Applied Discounts
    292 instant stock discount
    200 student discount
    4% EPP discount"

292 instant stock discount is applied automaticly right?
what about 200 student discount? I mean how do you apply it? Do you have to be an american student? I understand that american colleges participate withe some kind of Dells discount program right? How does DELL check who's a student and who's not?
And finally what is the EPP discount? :) How to get it?

    $292 is an EPP discount
$200 is a student coupon for students who attend qualifying institutions as determined by delluniversity.com
    4% is another EPP discount

EPP = Employees of certain organizations, and qualifying institutions (even smaller list)

For the student discount they check when you signup at delluniversity.com with a college email. If you don't have a college email they might have you go through some other form of proving your school affiliation.

thanks for explaining it to me.
I don't think I qualify for any of these :(
Maybe I'll ask some of my american friends to buy one under their name ...

If you apply EPP, student and the 2nd one EPP deals can you still apply the auto -$350 coupon?

Nice Guide. I tried calling to downgrade my screen as well and upgrade the HD. Technically there should be no change in price for me since one deducts $45 and one ups $45. I tired calling and emailing my Rep multiple time but did not hear from her. Finally had a CS Rep try every single Rep aligned to my Rep's team - no one picked up. So I got the EPP Team's managers email and sent a peeved note. Put a return recipt on it and he has read it but has not got back to me yet. I hope someone gets back to me tomm. This is getting so annoying.

P.S. Why is EPP off till Monday. I'd love to have a benefit like that! Take the whole 4th of July week off!!

ok...so i'm not tryin to steal the thread at all, but its all about gettin discounts and i am tired of shopping around tryin to get the best price. My dad works at a place that offers some type of discount through the epp site, but i will have to work that out myself and get back to you on a price.

For myself, i am attending college in the fall, but at the University of Kentucky, they don't allow me the coupon. I have to go through the kentucky website, but comes out bein more expensive than the home and home office with $350 coupon. So now, basically, i need to know what i can do to get the best deal without the coupon.

I wish someone that can do the coupon would PM me and i could give them my specs and they could shoot me a price. I could always have a friend order it that attends another college, if its worth the price. Please someone help out cause i'm new to the Dell section, as i previously had my mind completely set on the 6500t. Thanks, BUD

I bought mine from a kiosk today.

I was able to apply the $350 coupon from here (clicking on "Dell coupons" at the top of this forum), with an additional $150 coupon that the kiosk employees are allowed to stack until July 9th.

I got the same system as yours, except the following upgrades:
    2gb instead of 1gb
    1680x150 instead of 1440x900
7200 RPM drive instead of 5400 RPM
    Audigy HD Sound
Two years complete coverage including accidental damage protection

    My discounts:

$350 for the Dell coupon listed on this site
$150 for the Dell Kiosk coupon (they can apply this until July 9th)
$154 removed from avoiding Tax by having it shipped to Montana (my parents house - they will send it right back to me in Ca.)

My final total was $1377. $150 more than you, but thats a lot of upgrades.

I priced your configuration, if you use those two discounts, your total is just $1042.45 after tax and shipping, although that includes 2GB (they dont offer 1GB right now)

If you had that config shipped to someplace that doesnt charge tax, your total for that config should be just $ 963

You know when you go online and while you are configuring it says in small letters up top $1xxx with a line through it then it says a lower price below? That difference is the instant stock discount. You also see it when you pick between the 1520 and the 1521, right below the pics, after 100 or so off. Thats the instant stock discount.

i did that quite awhile ago, and a lot has changed since then. You are no longer allowed to stack the instant stock discount and the student discount, which was 200 when i did it. The best deal right now is just using the 300 off coupon from the home and home office site, and using a dell preferred account for a 4% off.

I'd change the T7500 to the T7300. The performance difference between the two is negligible, but the price difference is NOT.

Use some of the money to upgrade your HD to 7200, and use the rest to buy a game or some DVD's to play on your new laptop.

I don't know if this will help, but the coupon code TG60$CZNQ0BQ2R saves you $300 off a 1520 of $1299 or more. I don't know if this stacks with the other things you got however. and of course you can get free shipping if you don't mind waiting a little longer.
