Just general questions

Ok y'all...I really don't know much about computers, but when it comes to laptops I know nothing! I have been trying to decide what laptop to buy and Lord knows I am still indecisive! I like the 1530, I like the 1525, I like the latitude (I like the black keys and all), but I am at a loss..I have been reading about these things below and I don't know what they are for, someone please explain it to me because most are throwing a fit for them and I have no idea what they are, therefore I don't know if I even NEED them! Thanks Y'all

1) What is Ubuntu? Seems people like it
2) What is Penryn..everyone is waiting on it
3) What is Blu-Ray?
4) What are Dell's newest computers other than the 1530 and the 1525?

What else is coming out so I don't feel like such an idiot? Like I told y'all I know very little and some of this stuff I read on here is all "Greek" to me!

Thank You Arkit3kt! Even though I know to look those up myself lol, I still don't understand the hype! Got to remember I know nothing about this computer stuff! Yes, I can read and comprehend but I don't know enough about computers to say "Yea , Penryn is coming"! All I have ever done on a computer is chat (when i chatted), check email and pay bills, other than that, I'm lost! Apparently I need to buy the Book, Laptops for Dummies huh? LOL Thanks again!

Ubuntu is a free operating system created by a community of developers. Unlike Windows, you don't have to pay for it.

2) What is Penryn..everyone is waiting on it
Penryn is the latest processor from Intel. It offers minor performance increases and also reduces power consumption, so you battery will last longer. It's not essential in my book, and if you get a good deal now, it's not worth waiting for.

3) What is Blu-Ray?
Blu-Ray is the successor to the DVD. At the moment it is overpriced and in contest with an alternative product called HD-DVD. Avoid for now.

4) What are Dell's newest computers other than the 1530 and the 1525?
These are Dell's latest products. They are replaced/updated on a rolling 6 month cycle.
