My mom just gave me a 1501 w/ 15.4 truelife display and have a few questions.

Can I install the MediaDirect thing?

Is there a free way to get it?

It's only a week old but I can already see sign of wear where my hands rest on the case. What can I do when it scratches? Is there touch up paint? Can I protect it?

Why do these speakers suck so hard? Can they be upgraded? I know laptop speakers are by no means supposed to sound awesome but my old T42 has speakers that put these to shame and that's a business laptop.

    Can I add bluetooth?

    What all can be upgraded?

As you're probably all thinking: Why didn't he just get the 1505? Well I had no idea I was getting a laptop ( I didn't really need one) and my mom doesn't really know what to get. So lets deal with what we have.

    TIA - Christopher

    Too bad about the scratches.

    1) MediaDirect - I don't think it's offered for the 1501, especially since you don't have media keys!
    2) You can add on a BT radio whenever. Make sure you get the correct module.
    3) Internal speakers can't be upgraded EASILY, but you can easily plug in some external ones into the headphone port. I highly recommend this.
    4) You should easily be able to upgrade HD and RAM. You can upgrade the processor, but that's a bit more taxing.

Thanks a lot man. I definately am going to add the bluetooth asap and I want to look in the ram thing. It has a 80gig hdd so i think I'll be okay for a while.

Anybody have a good source (i.e cheapish) to get the ram?
