Hi all, the 9300 is a great notebook. A little plasticy but you get alot for the money.

    17" WXGA+
    Pentium M 760 2GHz
    1GB of ram
    128MB ATI X300
    60GB 7,200 HD
2 AC adapters (home and on the go)
    2 batteries 6 and 9 cell
    XP Media Center w/disc
    8x DVD burner
    Pro/wireless
    TV tuner with remote
$1,357.00 shipped. No dead pixels and no sparkle:750:

I was looking at Acer, Fujitsu, and Sager but the Dell price won me over :D

Now, to the point of this thread. I have a few questions.

#1 Is there any way to keep the multi media buttons on the front lit up? It is kinda dumb you have to push the buttons to get to see them in the dark.

#2 I want to use this laptop in my hometheater with a projector. The remote works great in MC but I would like to use the arrow buttons for the mouse in normal XP mode. Is this possible?

#3 The only problem I have with the screen is the backlight leakage. I am thinking about taking the the LCD enclosure apart and use a thin rubber tape to fill in the gap. Is this a bad idea?

    Thanks for reading,
    WMD

    EDIT:
I forgot to mention. You all really need to play with your 9300 touch pad settings. It's like having an 8 button mouse with 2 scroll wheels. VERY cool. I can't live with out backwards and forwards!

1.) no you can't. There isn't any driver/software that controls the media buttons, so you can't change any settings

    2.) not sure since I don't use a projector

3.) highly doubt that will work since the light leakage isn't due to the gap. the light leakage is coming from between the pixels so there really isn't any way to fix it. If it bothers you when you are playing dvd's, then you need to send it back in and hope you get a better screen. If you only notice it when you are booting up, then it is probably best to ignore it.
