Hello all, this is my first post here. I have been reading this forum for sometime now but never signed up to participate.
So now there's a need and hence the questions...

But I want to install Windows XP Pro on it. I cannot stand Vista operating systems

    -- Has anyone done this?
-- Any driver issues with any of the hardware?
-- What about Dell XPS support, will they, can they support the Windows
XP Pro OS on the M1530?
-- Anything you can tell me would be helpfull... :)

    Thank you,

    Richard

I haven't done it myself, but you can find the XP drivers for the 1530 here. It came from this thread: Official Dell XPS M1530 Manuals, Drivers, & Applications.

Don't quote me on this since I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think that XPS technical support deals with any software issues at all, so they wouldn't support Windows XP.

well, ive got a dual boot with vista home premium and xp pro sp2, but not on the m1530. m1330, beezy, yeah. works perfectly, even sound, which apparently seems to be a problem with many. i havent dealt with xps tech help people cuz i didnt need to. if you look at the 'show off your vista desktop' thread, i posted my xp desktop instead (its faster). this guide was really helpful:

it might be a little dated, but it works great. finding the drivers are decently easy. if you cant find one directly for your laptop, just try out drivers for the same hardware from other laptops. like, i used the sound driver from the 1420 on my m1330, seeing as they were the same hardware. it works perfectly now. so just experiment, and look at the guide. useful stuff.
