My monitor says "LPLF300" under the hardware ID's. I've seen AUO and SEC monitors, but what is an LPLF?

Display looks fantastic. Initial thoughts are that it is better than the SEC display of my wifes Inspiron 1520. No bleeding, bright, no graininess.

The bad - Battery wobble of the Inspiron is present on the Vostro.

The good - Looks great in all black. The lid actually closes tight, unlike the Inspiron which is loose.

I placed the order for the Vostro online on Friday. Later I called to upgrade to Vista Premium. The Dell CSR said he had to cancel the order and place it again with Vista Premium. He said that since it would change my deliver time, he would expedite the order, and upgrade shipping to next day (and I didn't even ask). I also told him I was worried about the LCD graininess and bleeding issues that were reported, and he said he would make sure I got a "good" LCD.

The Vostro shipped on Monday, and I got it today (Wednesday), so the CSR delivered on 2 counts. 3 day build time, and what appears to be a very nice LCD.

    Here are my specs:

    222-9562 Vostro 1500, Intel Core 2 Duo T7300, 2.0GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 4M L2 Cache 1 $1,082.00

I believe that is LG, it isn't very unique...but it is regarded as a high quality display. I'm hoping my 1520 LCD replacement is a LP...LG.

FYI: According to someone (who has 44 thousand+ post) on the dell forums on Dell.com, it is an LG-Philips display.

Mine just got delivered at home today. I got the WXGA+ screen. Can't wait to go home and see what screen I got.

Knowing my luck, it's prolly a UAO crap.

    Just checked my vostro 1500 WXGA+ and it's a Grainy/muddy/dirty/ looks like crap AUO2077 :(

And it does look like it's a cheap coating on the screen that's causing these screens to look muddy.

No harm in calling them and telling them that you are aware of the graininess and bleeding issues with the AUO and SEC LCD's, and would like to request an LG screen. I suspect you would need to get a WSGXA+ resolution though. I guess it all depends on which CSR you get.

is there any confirmation that they make the XGA+ screens by LG? from what I have seen, they all seem to be AUO....

Are you sure you have an WSXGA+?
It seems most people who say they have the AOU2077 also have the XGA+ screen... Seems odd that you would have that same exact AOU2077 screen with a different resolution..
