Ok, so I just recieved my XPS 1530, everythings looking good, good screen, no keyboard bulge, everything seems to work, so I'm happy, cept for one thing I'v noticed. So far I'v just been browsing the internet, downloading programs like firefox etc, not running any other programs and yet my CPU usage is at 60% and above...and this is with the new T9300 with 2.5Ghz...I checked he vista indexing and its finished running so it isn't that. I find the fans are coming on quite regularly due to this, just wondering is this a) normal or b) an issue I should talk to dell about.

Edit: Just noticed that GoogleDesktop.exe is showing at 52+ in the CPU column of taskmanager...what the &£*#! lol...what is that doing, and how is it fixed.

Lol just end the task and that's it. Pure bloatware is what it is.

Try updating to the latest A08 BIOS. I got mine last week and it came with the A07 version.

GoogleDesktop will presumably be indexing files for use when you want to do a search. If you don't need that, just disable / remove it.

Yeah I noticed it was AO7 when I first turned it on, not really too experienced with laptops, can you point me to a place on how to update it, a guide or something.

If I were you, I'd reinstall Vista completely right now before you install or save anything else on your laptop. That way all the bloatware is gone and you can experience more power of your processor. And installation isn't like XP where it could take a little over an hour. When I reinstall Vista it only takes about 30 minutes.

Aye I might do, but since some of the bloatware I could use I think I'm just going to go through and removing all the stuff manually, should come out with roughly the same result with less hassel.

Btw are the nvidia drivers up to date which come with the system or should I upgrade to another driver, can anyone recommend the best current one. I'v heard that it's best to get unofficial drivers since nvidia's own updates are behind others. That true?

nvidia drivers are up to date, bios 08 helps and then strip out the bloatware as per the instructions in the sticky post on vista tips -- speeds things up

I have a T9300 on a D630 and my cores normally are at about 0-15% (w spikes to about 50%) surfing the web and such w/ virus prog in the background and indexing turned off. 60% is high if it never goes down from that when not really doing anything. Reinstall is a good idea. Also try some different core monitoring tools and compare readings.
