    Hello everyone.

Okay, I finally got my Vostro 1500, and it's looking sleek so far! However, it only was Vista Home Basic, and I intend to clean install Home premium using an upgrade retail disc.

However, there is one software that I do not want wiped out, and that's Cyber PowerDvd, but it seems Dell did not ship a cd that I could use to reinstall.

So how do I clean install Home premium without wiping out the Cyber PowerDvd software?

I don't think it's possible. If you want a clean installtion, everything must go.

How much did you get the notebook for?

So is there any free dvd software that is good that I could download then? Would you guys still clean install even if it means losing Cyberlink powerdvd software?

As for how much, well let me list the specs first:

    Vostro 1500 Notebook: Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
    Certified Refurbished
    90W AC Adapter
15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Notebook Screen with TrueLife
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
    MEDIADIRECT 3.3 Software
    1390 Wireless Card
Integrated 2.0 Mega Pixel Web Camera
    2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz (2 DIMMs)
120 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
    6 Cell Primary Battery
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

    Price: $799
+ (Stupid) CA tax and environmental fees $73.89
    Grand total: $872.89

I'm pleased with the laptop so far and it looks brand new. You wouldn't know this is a refurb laptop unless someone told you. My only gripe was that it came with Home Basic instead of Home premium, but I guess if you wait till you find a refurb laptop that has exactly everything you want, well then you'll probably be waiting forever.

I've so far ran the WiC demo, and it seems to be playing the game well at 1400x900 at medium settings, with dx10 enabled. This is after I installed the laptop2go drivers, though.
