I also just recieved my M1530 replacement today, yes, the plastic surrounding the power and transport panel is very cheap.
However,I was pleasently surprised,I sent back the 1st 1530 because of a grainy Samsung Panel, and without even asking the replacement had an LPL LG/Phillips Panel :D

That's just your standard display name under Windows.
Think the previous posts were refering to the panel manufacturer which in this case would be either Samsung or LG-Phillips and maybe another. For instance they provide the screens for the 15.4" Thinkpads too. Not too familiar with alll the panel providers for the X1530 but the most common are Samsung and LG.

You need to download Everest Home Edition - I believe it can report what make and model panel you have fitted.

I just processed to exchange my 1530 with a new one. There weren't many problems, but there was some strange residue or adhesive coming from under the black portion above the keyboard running under my F8 key. The key would get stuck when I would press it. On top of that my keyboard was also terribly aligned so they are sending a new one. The last issue was some strange noise it would make every hour for about 5 seconds.

I tried to see if they could change my screen for me, but no luck. Hopefully the new one is perfect.

Go to "Display" -> "Monitor" there you'll see the "Monitor ID"

After I called and did the exchange I found out that that part that i was complaining about being scratched is actually a protective layer that is removable and under it is very nice shiny black plastic. so i called again and cancelled the exchanged.

you will read about this in a thread. I will call it "Stupid ME"

too get the id you need to go to the device manager -> monitors -> right click properties -> details tab -> select hardware id from the drop down list and it will show the id (eg. something like Monitor/dela019 where dela019 is the id)

For those of you that cannot retrieve LCD Manufacturer info with powerstrip/everest etc,or via system info, log on to Dells website and go to support/click xps notebook/select your model#/system config information/enter your service tag# located on bottom of your Laptop/
This will show a detailed list of all the components used to build your computer, towards the bottom of the list will be the LCD display and manufacturer should be listed.

    Well B2...
you may be willing to spend your bread for a Laptop with a crappy LCD,I however am not,and more to the point,I think everyone should step up and return their machine if it has inferior parts, maybe then Dell and other companies would utilize the better grade parts in every machine they build the 1st time out.
