Just opened up my new Dell Inspiron 1525, plugged it into the adapter, and the computer powers up but nothing displays on the screen after pushing the power button. What's the deal here? Is there some way to magically turn on the screen?

Can someone please help me? I am done with Dell if they ruin the screen.

    Mindripper2000,

Your thread title and post has been edited. Using curse words, even if they're censored (the meaning is obviously there) doesn't help the situation. Thanks :).

Sorry about cursing, I guess I was just pissed about the situation. Next time I will refrain from doing so.

Anyways, I called tech support and they seemed to fix the issue within a few minutes. This is what I had to do:

Remove the battery and adapter from the laptop, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, put the battery and adapter back in. Finally power it up again.

This seemed to fix the issue and the screen displays.

    Hi,
This may be an issue with the video driver. I would suggest removing and reloading it with the most current driver from support.dell.com. Also, if the issue continues, it could possibly be a intermitantly failing LCD screen. If you do in fact get the blank screen again, try plugging it into an external monitor to see if you get a picture. Also, even though the screen may be black, you can sometimes notice a rather ghosted image on your screen (which would mean a falty backlight).

    Hope this helps,
    Gabe
