    Inspiron 1420
    2.0ghz dual core processor/45nm
    14.1WXGA+ with camera (Black)
    4GB 667mhz memory
    250GB 5400rpm hard drive
    vista home premium
    9cell battery
    DVD burner
and I am guessing X3100 GPU

EDIT: and it looks like it comes with a recovery DVD as well, and Bluetooth

is there anything in perticular you are looking for?

I am told that the notebook will have an "onboard video card", so not the X3100...

And isn't T5750 Core 2 Duo and not dual core?

    What's a "recovery DVD"?

"onboard video card" = non dedicated = x3100.

    Also T5750 = Merom core = 65nm, a dual core CPU.

If you google "Merom T5750" you will see that all the listings have C2D.

Also, i had a 32 MB discrete card in the original 600m, so shouldn't I have a discrete card in this one too?

onboard = intergrated onto the motherboard, which could be interpeted either way. I would guess because I don't see any vidoe upgrades it in fact is X3100, with is likely faster than the 32MB card you had.

T5750 is Core 2 Duo which is Dual Core.
so you will have 2x2.0Ghz Core 2 based processors, which compaired to the 1.6Ghz (single core) will be at least twice as fast.

recovery DVD is just a Disk that will let you restore your computer to factory state. getting this shipped is just a bonus. You can make them yourself(if you don't get them with the computer you should make them).

Penryn is a dual core CPU, but will be released as a quad core version later this year and will be branded as a Core 2 Extreme (instead of Core 2 Duo).

There is one quad core Penryn, but it is well over $1000. They are two core chips.

I don't think they have to, it has to be equal or better and I think the X3100 is better than any 32MB card, but to be sure what card do you have?

A full week and so far no updates whatsoever. Then again, that might mean that they are having trouble finding a 1520 and finding me a m1530 instead.

Push the "start" button (in vista its the little orb) and in the search box type in dxdiag. On the display tab under "device", it should say what kind of card you have.

Nice, you got a pretty sweet deal on everything. Since you pretty much got a new notebook, I hope you have extended your warranty to cover it for at least a year.

As for my notebook, it has been 6 business days out the 7-10 it is suppose to take (including shipping I assume) and so far no updates at all.

I have a question: Do they send you the replacement with a return shipping label to send back the old one, are there seperate boxes, or do you have to send your original notebook back first?

they will send u a replacement while u continue usin yur current one. that way u can compare the 2 notebooks when yur replacement arrives. u then have to put yur current notebook into the box that the replacement came in. there *should* be a packin slip included. if, for whatever reason, that they didn't include one. u can call them up and they can email u a printable shippin label.

Oh that's nice, I finally got a replacement but there is a problem with it:

    Ruby Red Studio 1535
    Vista Home Premium
    Core 2 Duo 8100
    Glossy 1920x1200 screen
    200GB 7200 RPM HD
    2GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 3450

    Anything wrong with this picture?

Grr... I am currently chatting with Dell tech support and he is insisting I have to contact Customer support to get this right. >_>

Why would they give you a Studio if you had an Inspiron? Sounds like they messed it up.

They must replace the notebook with an equal or better system. Since the 1520 is discontinued, they must replace it with another system. The Studio can almost match my current specs, except for the graphics cards. As a matter of fact, the only 15" notebook that can match my system is the XPS m1530, which they seem to be trying to avoid.

Wow, this sure has been a gigantic hassle for me. Tech support tells me they are sending that one because the graphics card is listed as a 8400m instead of the 8600. They are telling me to contact customer service to correct the records but customer support tells me they can't do that and to call tech support instead.I am talking to supervisors in each department (online chat with tech support, phone with customer service) and they are insisting it is within the opposite department's power to do so.

Yup, this is a huge mess on Dell's part. I am on hold now with tech support as the supervisor talks to dispatch and tries to figure out why it lists a 8400. Since Dell is all about customer satisfaction, I am going to pretty much demand to know what they are going to do to make me a satisfied customer. Hopefully, this will involve guarenteed upgrades and/or a gift card. A system replacement is bad enough without having to deal with all this ****.
