After 5 returns/replacements/etc, I decided to return my Dell. I had two machines with me, the fifth replacement they had sent me and the 4th one. I requested a return, they sent me the shipping labels, and I shipped them both back. I thought it was all taken care of. This was mid-December.
Now it's late January. I go into my Dell account page, only to see that they haven't refunded the money yet. I call them up, and they're now claiming that I actually had with me the original, the replacement, and then a second replacement machine.
Obviously, it's BS because they won't ship you additional replacement machines until you return any replacement machines you already have. But they're claiming I had these three machines, two of which have been shipped back. The third they haven't received yet, mostly because it doesn't exist.
They want the tracking numbers for both the machines they received. I gave them one of them, but I've lost the other. This part is my fault, I assumed I wouldn't have to deal with this a month after the machines were shipped back. But yes, I don't have this other tracking number they want, and they won't refund me unless I give it to them.
What do I do?

Did you buy the computer using a credit card? Call your credit card company and file up a complaint. Your credit card will probably contact dell and ask them proof of that tracking number, if Dell is unable to provide the number, you will probably get a credit on your credit card.
-
Call UPS, FedEx, or whoever, or issue a chargeback with your credit card company.
-
I agree with the credit card route. You have to fill out even MORE paperwork to file a dispute, but you may as well let them handle the problem. That's why you pay them after all.

It sounds like he used his Dell account to make the purchase?
-
Could these people that get more than one computer with dell telling them that they don't need to send the extra ones back have any connection with this?
-
I used DFS to purchase the machine.
-
Anyone have any ideas as to how to deal with this?
-
I would demand that Dell provide the tracking info for ALL systems they say they shipped to you. In addition, if they somehow come up with 3 tracking numbers, verify all 3 say delivered to your address, and take note of the weight of each package.
-
Well they did send me multiple replacements before the final return, but all those past replacements had been taken care of by the time I shipped the last two machines.

Your kinda stuck....
Your credit card won't issue a chargeback because you received the items.
As far as sending back the units, did you not do it via return labels they had provided to you? If so, you may have a copy on your email still or Delkl will have that on your file.
Just great, more Dell fun...
