Canadian Dell prices are changing, as I type to reflect the increase in the Canadian Dollar.
Which means..... Cheaper Dells in Canada!!!
I was told that the M1730s were being adjusted as I was speaking on the phone so, if your considering buying a Canadian Dell, keep a close eye on the prices in the next few days.
-
-
Is just the M1730? Or does this include other models M1330 or other models in the Ispiron line? If so, that would be great.
I just configured a 1420 for $998+tax and might consider getting it within the next few days (or the Lenovo T61). -
I noticed the Vostro 1400 I made had everything $1-20 cheaper but the discount went from -$170 to -$85 so I don't know if this is to reflect our dollar or just them screwing with the prices as always.
-
Stupid Canadian dollar, we were worthless for all those years now suddenly we're worth a bundle..
That or US's economy is worthless now in comparison.
It's taking a nice bite out of my pay check...
Well good news for anything wanting a new PC I guess.. lol -
When I spoke with my contact, I questioned regarding the system I have enroute which is a fully loaded M1730. It appears my configuration actually went up by a hundred bucks which I am told is reflective of the rising cost of the SSD.
With demand comes cost here I guess.
I was told that, within a few days, all Dell Canada prices would be changed to reflect the Canadian dollar.
Don't shoot the messenger if this doesn't occur but, as pretty much everyone here can attest, my information has been solid right back to the M1330LED/LCD mixup, M1330 cancellations as well as shipping of the systems. -
Just built the Vostro 1400 again online, its gone up over $200 since yesterday. I don't know why but I hope this doesn't stay this way. It's so hard to tell when to buy this thing. Next time its even a bit lower ill call Dell and work my way through phone support.
-
What I would do in that case is pull this link up:
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bqdwj3l&s=bsd
Call Dell tomorrow during the day and tell them it is patently unfair that our dollar has gone up so much yet the system price hasnt gone down. They might help you right there. -
Ya that link you gave me I was able to build the same system in every way for $400+ less. Something is really wrong with there prices at the moment. Also if I go with the 1420 instead of the 1400 its like $600+ less because of that -$425 coupon. Granted its a different CPU in that one but this is just unfair at this point. I'm willing to take the time necessary to explain this to every Dell rep I phone until I get a deal.
-
dell always charges exorbitantly for higher CPU.
-
Took a while for Dell to change prices. I hope the Canadian version has the same specs. as the US version. I hate it when they charge the Canadian version MORE with LESS features.
-
Perfect example....The Canadian M1730 does not come with a Vista Ultimate option whereas the US does.
Whats up with that? -
Yeah, its actually a little insulting. Like i said before, i could save a sizable amount by renting an american PO box, and having it shipped there, then from that address, shipped to my canadian address.
I flat out refuse to buy any big ticket item until the prices are re-adjusted, or i go down to america. Futurshop and Dell.ca will get my business, or i'll cross the boarder and give it to dell.com and Bestbuy. The money ends up in the same company... just not as much.
Even if they do price things properly according to our dollar, i wouldnt hold my breath on the deals ever rivaling dell.com... I mean they still get '$450 off coupons' every now and then. Best i have seen from dell.ca is '%20 off vostro 1500' which offered severely limited options.(CPU only went up to T5460) -
I dont necessarily agree with that. I have been watching Dell for years and it seems to jump back and forth in pricing. It wasnt even 3 months ago the Us contingent was complaining because our prices were lower.
They also dont have a comparable 'Dell Mystery Coupon Daze".
I concede our prices seem higher for the most part for upper level systems, but our Vostro prices about a month ago were dead on pricing at under 600. I believe you could even get one for under 500 at one point configured correctly.
Yes, I just checked... the Vostro 1400 was about 549 and the 1000 was 514 but you could get it below 500. -
I have been spec.ing out the same machine on dell.com/dell.ca since the new inspiron were released. The ONLY time the machine came out cheaper on the canadian site, then it did on the american one, was when the first introduced the new laptops.
Since then it has consistently been AT LEAST $200 less(without even using coupons) on the american site.
-
Doesn't mean we get nice coupons though
I remember when Dell had their $750 off $1499 coupons last year....those were sweet... -
If anyone is looking for a Dell sale in Canada, watch the forums at www.redflagdeals.com. Someone comes up with a phenom Dell Deal every few days there in the Hot Topics Forum.
Its because of that that I got this baby (valued at around 4000 with taxes) for a final total of about 1439 taxes included. -
I've been checking out a Vostro 1400 for 3 weeks now and the prices are all over the place. I saved the website 3 times recently with different prices and the exact same specs in every way.

Dell Canada changes vostro price today, still way too high. for lowest 1400 configuration, Dell Canada asks CA$579 vs US$549 in Dell US. WTF.
-
Prices have changed but there is still 1 day on the discount I think so tommorow the prices should be not as bad. At least I noticed it do this last week.
-
Nov 1 discount has already expired, if you click further, you will see current promotion will expire on Nov 15.
-
A ok they just changed it, I was there 1 hour ago and it said 1/11 and the prices were nutty high. Also now the T7300 is gone.
-
this kind of price difference in current sale is simply a joke:
for a Vostro 1400 with T7300 processor, 2GB RAM, DVD Burner, Vista Business and 160GB HDD: CA$1384 in Dell Canada vs. US$829 in Dell US -
Fuzzy -
They occur once a year and usually around August I think. Coupons given out in canada are 25/50/75% off and its been well documented that they are random. I bought my 1/2 off coupon from someone in Nova Scotia who received it after only buying one other system from Dell a few years prior. They can only be used once and for specific systems listed in the promotional site.
-
There have been a very few cases of people receiving a 50-75% off code who didn't first spend a lot at Dell. Maybe a mistake by Dell, maybe a lottery designed to inspire some hope of getting a real deal. -
Actually...the 2 x 1/2 off coupons and only 75% off coupon I am aware of in this program since I got mine ALL went to Dell customers who DID NOT have big accounts. They were random. I just again confirmed my orig thought as well; they do not occur several times a year in Canada.
Thank you though.
Just in from Dell Canada!!!!!! Cheaper Prices!!!
