    Hey everyone
I just saw on the dell site that the Vostro 1710 is available. I was going to get a 1700 for college, and I was wondering what the difference is between the models (the 1710 is about $100 more for the same specs)

This may be of no use to you, as I admittedly have absolutely no dell knowledge whatsoever. However, from my experience in buying laptops you get what you pay for. (barring any special deals)

I don't know, I've had my Dell for over a year and I'm still amazed about the build-quality of this laptop after I had some horrible experiences with my previous Toshiba.

I'm hoping some reviews will start to trickle in soon - it looks like the extra $100 for the 1710 is based on the fact that its smaller and lighter alone
